USS destroyer sailing by chinese disputed islands

We have been sailing those waters since ww2. Suddenly china changes the map and we are invading "sovereign territory"

It's a provocative gesture and you know it! It's past time we make diplomatic moves instead of forceful ones.

Mhm, yeah we should do the peaceful thing and build an island 100 miles off the Chinese shore. See how they like it. China said they are keeping water ways open. And from some of the reports of people who have been there that is not the case. We put their statement to the test and it is ringing incredibly hollow.

You're simply too dumb to talk to. Creating your own islands in disputed territory, in the middle of popular international shipping and military travel lanes, claiming them as your own while militarizing them and then telling everyone else to stay away is provocative.

Not traveling where we've always travelled.

You have to remember, young Louder, only the American government lies.

You just mentioned the Alaskan vacation the PLA Navy took back in early September. That really is the craziest thing to me. The island building and pretending like it's always been their territory is crazy enough, but the visceral outrage from the CCP, its media empire, and nationalist lay Chinese has been the craziest thing to me. They're *****ing their tongues out their face holes over something they did in Alaska (a place they have no natural or economic interest in, unlike the US in the SCS) no more than two months ago.

But, what can you expect out of a "government" that mostly set out WWII while the Chinese nationalists expended themselves fighting the Japanese. And then they have the gall to go out there on the 2nd of September flaunting "Chinese power" on the 70th Anniversary of the end of the war, as if they actually did anything to help China.

Even though he's a little lying, murdering son of a *****, I can at least respect Putin. The CCP, however, is just absolute trash. Pathetic, whiny, annoying, and obnoxious.

Yeah, of course. The go to "you're so dumb" play.

You put me in my place, buddy! Lol :birgits_giggle:

Ya'll remember that time Obama nationalized the oil industry and other parts of the energy sector, kind of like a fascist govt., since this is a key sector for self-sufficiency?

Me neither.

This is the privatization I am talking about.

So is I either highlight the point that America could be far better or if I comment on how another country may be doing certain things right compared to us, does that mean that I need to leave the country?

I've often bad mouthed some folks in my family for doing stupid things, but that doesn't mean I want out of the family. It just means that I want family to do better... same is true with my comments regarding the US or any other country.

But you're not. You are gathering your facts from a new outlet that is controlled by a government. The fact is that another news source outside of RT reports the opposite and you claim Russia is right. I have no problem with the criticism of American politics. Also, I never told you to move.

What difference does it make if the news outlet is controlled by the. govt if the news group is reporting direct quotes?

How do you spin quotes?

And LOL at the main criticism aimed at RT as being govt controlled when we have a media here in the US that is piped in to the White House.

Oh, you poor little ignorant novice you.

American corporate media = sensationalism for ratings.

Russian state media = what the govt. wants you to know or not know

See below. Government controlled media reports on what the government says they should. Look at North Korea for instance. I am not saying American news media is perfect but there is variety. I prefer to peruse international media and corroborate the information from many sources. You rely almost exclusively on RT. That is your folly. If you can't see what the issue is, then I don't know what to tell you.

In addition to China, several nations in the region claim sovereignty over the Spratly Islands, including Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.
and yet China is the only one that complains. hm.

and here is an interesting article. https://www.rt.com/news/263173-china-weapons-island-pentagon/

warmongers going to warmonger. oh wait
“We are not going to have a conflict with China but we can take certain measures which will be a disincentive to China to continue these kinds of activities,” McCain said.

The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also claim parts of the South China Sea. All these countries except Brunei have military fortifications in the major archipelago of Spratlys, which is supposed to have significant reserves of oil and natural gas.

Why is this not a problem?

1. It is their sovereign territory, not the case for china. 2. They are not making islands to put guns on them. 3. They don't react when we peacefully sail past, something we have done for a long time. China is freaking out is because this is the first time we have done it since they have been there. 4. Their islands, or most of them, have native populations there and therefore there is justification of something needed to be defended. The Chinese are boating people in to do their normal over-night ethnic equalling, when there was a population at all.

Did we sail erratically? Make evasive maneuvers? Hinder local shipping? Linger about the harbor? Devivate from the path? Tell the Chinese we were targeting them?

I didn't mind the Chinese sailing past the aleutian islands and that was way worse than this.

You deemed these islands sovereign territory To all other nations except China... How do YOU know this to be true? Because msm said so?

China's only claim is that they fish I'm those waters. The Spratlies are much closer to the other countries involves in the claim.

As you can see Vietnam and the Philippines are much closer.
