As a side note I am looking forward to my trip to Knoxville. Besides tailgating and mingling with you good Tennessee folks at the game, what should I be eating/doing while I'm in Knoxville?
Plenty of knoxville-specific places to eat, but as for tourist attractions, our Statue of Liberty is the stadium. It truly is a massive, massive spectacle, especially from the inside.
Food wise, everyone here says to try Ye Olde Steakhouse. It's about 15 min from the stadium. I've never had it personally, but it's supposed to be great. As for exploring the area, there are some very cool aspects of Knoxville. World's Fair Park is very nice, and Market Square is basically a perfect square in the middle of downtown that is surrounded by restaurants. Great date place.
There's also this really cool aspect of downtown that's called "The Old City". Basically downtown Knox is one long strip, and you can turn off of it and you go down a hill into the old city, which is the old downtown Knox. It's a lot of old, historic buildings and cool restaurants.
Welcome to the south! I hope your stay here is great. This is football country. When our kids first learn to walk, we put a football in their hands, before they can walk we're teaching them fumble recovery. Your team is going to lose, but I promise you the second the game is over, we will all be wanting you to go undefeated for the rest of the season.
