USU Aggies Spring Ball Video

We all have confirmation bias and interpret things through orange or blue colored goggles, depending on allegiance. I appreciate a wide variety of opinions, including yours. I tend to agree with you. I think this game will be competitive.

You're a fair and respectful poster on here and you're appreciated. I can't stand when people beat their chest and talk junk when they don't have a leg to stand on, when they haven't earned the right to do so. You've done neither and again, it's appreciated.

Right now, we UT fans just have no leg to stand on IMO. We've rattled off 4 losing seasons in a row, first time since early 1900s, so anybody in here who spouts off about how we're gonna blow Utah State out is full of it. There's no reason to believe that will happen. Given the success your team has had the last 2 years, I suspect they play with great confidence and know how to win, regardless the level of competition they've played....and that matters a lot. Our team has been the exact opposite for awhile now.... they don't play with confidence and a few outgoing players last year say they always expected to lose...and they did....and often.

I expect a competitive game and am hopeful that our young talent will eventually win out in the end and that the tide will begin to turn for what has been a broken, dispirited football program for the last half decade.

Says everybody who's never seen Utah State play football ever before.

Here's the list of teams USU beat last year. Tell me which one UT wouldn't have stomped last year:

AFA 2-10
Weber St- FCS 2-10
SJSU- 6-6
New Mexico 3-9
Hawaii 1-11
UNLV 7-6
Colorado St 8-6
Wyoming 5-7

That's their regular season wins. Their most impressive games of the year were their close loss to a USC team in Kiffin spawned turmoil and a possibly overrated NIU team.

They were 9-5. IMO, last year's UT team would have won 11-13 games vs that schedule.

Line came out yesterday...UT is favored by 6.5 vs USU.
That equates to about a 2:1 favorite.
USU posters: if you want to discuss the matchup I'd recommend the football talk thread in the recruiting forum. I think you'd get a better reception there than here and a less moronic one-sided discussion. Personally, I'd have made this line -7.5 and I'd have happily taken USU there. Anybody who thinks this team will be similar to South Alabama or WKU or some trivial team is dead wrong. I've seen enough of USU to understand they are probably one of the top 30 teams or so in the country.

I don't know about Top 30. We would have to show some things on the field in 2014 before I'm buying that. I think we have that potential, but we're going to have to see how things come together against real competitiion.

I do believe our team will play very hard and at a very high pace and I do think we run schemes that create problems for most teams we play.

USU isnt like Boise St and TCU a few years ago. They are an above average mid major team but they aren't half as good as yall are making them out to be. They do good for the conference they are in but we have this conversation every yr whether its NC St or WKU or S. Alabama. You all will just keep guessing till ur right.

heres 1 thing I dont understand about USU fans.

they have a thread titled, "fans of 12th best SEC team brag about losing to the rest"

when at the same time, every USU fan Ive come across has bragged about staying in the game (but still losing) with every decent team they play. they talk about how bad the teams are that we beat, but fail to acknowledge how bad the teams were that they beat. WKU ended 8-4 and USA ended 6-6. Both of those teams had better records than most of USU's schedule. They make fun of us for barely beating USA, but they lost to Utah. Then you factor in we beat the team that ended #4 in the country.

They brag about their record vs ranked teams last year but bash us for our record. One said they went 2-1 vs ranked teams last year, but I only see 1 ranked team they beat which was NIU (who am I missing?). They lost to a ranked Fresno State team. USC was the only team they played that ended in the top 25 and they lost to them. Yeah, they kept it close, but that was while Kiffin was the HC. USC was way more dominant after Kiffin was fired. I dont see how the record vs ranked teams can be applicable when its a win over NIU and a loss against Fresno St vs a win over SCAR and losses to Alabama, Oregon, Auburn, UGA, Mizzou and at the time 19th ranked UF. We only lost to 2 unranked teams... (UF and Vandy) both of which were in the top 25 final rankings the previous year.

The teams that beat us had a 67-25 record. About a 73% win percent
The teams that beat them had a 42-23 record. About a 64% win percent

Yesssssssss! Because everyone wants to be know by who beats us, right?

Remind us again of all of the "good wins" UT has in recent enough memory that it has any bearing on today (Let's call it 5 years, just to be safe...)

Cool, keep playing that card. How about good wins USU has ever had. NIU is not a good win. But thats not what Im talking about.

I dont see how your fans can say were "bragging" about who we lost to when at the same time EVERY USU fan talks about how they almost beat any decent team theyve played.

Not gonna get any better after UT slaughters USU.

No way we could call that one-sided beatdown a "good win"...

Go Vols.

How about in the last 5 years we talk about teams we beat that would beat USU....

'09 UGA
'09 SC
'14 SC
'11 Cincy
'12 NC State
'10 Ole Miss

.......... should I go on? Oh wait you're slamming our wins because they weren't all "good wins" by our standards, even though they would be milestone wins in USU's history?

Ok got it. Carry on.

And as for the "which wins have any bearing on today"....... technically any team can use that argument with any wins from any past season. Consistently winning our "low tier out of conference" games (such as USU will be) absolutely has bearing on August 31st, 2014.

I'll be glad when the Volunteers get done whipping the tar out of Utah State, so there won't be any more necessity to tell USU fans how things are.

vs their best wins. (taking a random shot at this without looking at how every team did)

NIU
LA Tech
Toledo
UNLV
BYU (7-6 that year)

How many has USU had? How many BCS conference teams have you beaten?

Let me make it easy for you... you've beaten Utah just after they move to the Pac 12 in a year when they went 5-7. I count 30 FBS wins in the last 5 years. Ten of those wins came against teams that finished with winning records (all mid-majors). Unless I missed something, you have avg'd 2 wins per year against mid-majors with winning records and then wonder why we laugh when you crow.

You play a lame schedule, have success against it, then somehow think we should buy the notion that UT is playing Bama of the west on Aug 30th.

NONE of us have denied that UT has been in a historically low ebb over the past few years. At NO TIME during that low ebb have they fielded a team that would not have beaten up on the schedules you have played. You have been at a historic high for your program. At no time have you fielded a team that would have produced a better record against UT's schedule than UT did.

After looking at USU's schedule for this year, I could see them going anywhere from 5-7 to 10-2 (Reg Season)

They have a lot of games that could be toss ups.

Wake Forest
Arkansas St.
BYU
Colorado St.
UNLV
Boise St.

Im gonna make a wild prediction and say they go 7-5

We are not bad enough to lose to Utah. Or Utah State. Or an amalgamation of the two teams. Not expecting a close game at all. No evidence suggests we should even be concerned. We are worried about Georgia, Florida & Bama. This Utah State stuff is funny. Just found they had a football team when they showed up on our schedule.

How about the fact that oddsmakers, who's job is to make point spreads with millions of dollars on the line, think Tennessee is only about 3 points better than USU (plus home field)?

You realize how early these lines are don't you? A good portion of next year's talent isn't even on campus yet. We haven't named a starting QB, in fact, we haven't named starters anywhere. This line has 4 months to move, and personally I feel pretty confident all lines in this game are going to move in UT's favor.

Probably a touchdown by game time.

Could move in USUs direction, too. Fact is this is what the wise guys think today, which is a lot different from what we USU fans have to listen to Tenn fans say

You see, just when I'm ready to give USU a breather, you show back up.

UT will mud-stomp your aggies. It will still not be a good win for UT. That's who you are.

Good day.
