USU Scrimmage

I have not and will not say UT sucks. I do think some UT fans have an inflated sense of where the program is today.

Are not the wins and losses the wins and losses? I don't know how you argue much about these.

Your very proud program is not historically a Top 10 program. Where did you come up with that?

My "BS" is based on facts, records, scores, rankings, etc. These facts seem to be something some UT fans are not able to comprehend.

1 Michigan 910 321
2 Yale 877 359
3 Texas 875 338
4 Notre Dame 874 305
5 Nebraska 860 354
6 Ohio State 849 316
7 Oklahoma 836 310
8 Harvard 832 383
9 Alabama 832 321
10 Penn 826 468
11 Tennessee 804 361

That list is by wins only. Factor in our national titles and conference we are in and you're damn right we are.

We will easily be the team with the most talent and athleticism. There are things that can happen such as a monsoon or 5 turnovers. If we play to our level and USU to theirs it will not be that close.

i know we are not near as big on the o line as last yr but i couldnt help notice the small size in your scrimmage #1 D line.....running a 3-4 going 265,270, and 298....214, 230,232,and 245lbs in your backers....average barely 250 in your whole front 7....not sure how that will hold up for 4 qts against bigger teams.....were not huge but our D tackles are basically the same size as your o line who only has one 300lbs guy on it. we'll go 290,281,295,292 and 305 on the DTs with sawyers, williams, obrien, saulsberry, and carr. theres really no size advantage anywhere for USU. theres no way your tackles are ready for vereen and maggitt for a whole game.i dont see how a 3 man DL front averaging 270lbs. will get much of a push against a much bigger o line consistently either. Hurd is bigger than one your backers and a couple others only have 5 or 7lbs on him which really means nothing when hes flying right toward you.

you have 150 lbs, 170lb and 180lb WRs. one RB thats 200lbs. by midway through the 3rd qtr i believe USU wears completely down.

ag4fr, an honest question. First a few comments. My visits to USUFANS are rather infrequent. I go for two reasons. One, to see what you guys are saying, and not about the Vols but in general. Mainly, I want to learn a bit about your team. And mainly again, to take in the obvious pride about your team. I think it's something to be respected so I just listen, I never post.

Except for a few nitwit Vols fans early on that you can count on one hand, I don't see any putdowns of USU's team. That is, I'm not seeing any on-going Vols fans who have taken up permanent residence on the board and badmouthing the Aggies. Frankly, this surprises me because I'm used to lurking on non-SEC opponent boards and seeing Vols fans making us look bad, Bad, BAd, BAD. So the question is, why are you a permanent resident here and waging war and saying how bad a team we are? I mean it keeps going on and on, so I have to ask why.

I just want to say my favorite post in this thread was the one saying USU LBs are slow. They're pretty quick, and it shows in our rush defense. we held most teams under their rushing average.

For example, Air Force averaged 262 yards per game rushing. We held them to 162.
CSU's RB was coming off of 600 yards and 10 touchdowns the previous two weeks. We held him to 54 and zero.

we held jordan lynch to 39 yards.

we held USC to 60 yards under their average.

the linebackers are the best part of our team. they're very good, very quick, and rarely out of position.

the CBs are a worry, but they're not bad. They're not even below average.

Yessiree. Yale, Harvard, and Penn... Right at the top of my list for great College Football programs... Wow.

Find me ANY article written by ANY credible sports writer in ANY credible sports publication that lists UT as one of the all-time Top 10 College Football programs and I will concede the point.

Your BS is coming on a another team's fan forum and trying to point out how lousy out team has been the last few years. Kinda tired of it, especially given that our program has been wildly successful historically while your has historically been awful and irrelevant.

And since you're talking about wins being wins, here's where I get the idea that UT is historically a top 10 program (I'm not gonna reference the claimed 6 national championships, one of which happened only 15 seasons ago)....

Rank Team Wins
1 Michigan 910. 2 Yale 877. 3 Texas 875 4 Notre Dame874
5 Nebraska 860 6 Ohio State. 849
7. Oklahoma. 836
8 Harvard 832 9 Alabama2 832 10 Penn 826 11 Tennessee 804

This list has UT at #11 all time in wins, but surely you're not gonna argue that Yale, Harvard or Penn is or really ever has been a better historical program than UT are you? No? Didn't think so chief.

if you played USC after the toxic kiffin was fired they wouldve hammered you bc they got hot. why brag about holding airforce and colorado state in check?

we have three over 300 and the other two are 295 with 6 months of weight training left until the season starts.

But we are often outsized. Our OL cut blocks over and over and over again. Who gets tired from that? Not the OL. It's the big heavy DL that keeps getting cut to the ground.

but i said there was only 300lb on your o line in the first scrimmage depth chart. read the whole post.

against garbage teams pretty much....

SEC had 3 teams in the top 20 in scoring. MWC had 2 (and NIU was in there too who we played)

On the other hand, SEC has 3 teams in the bottom 20 in scoring. MWC? zero.

SEC teams are obviously better teams. but when judging offensive power vs defense, Missouri didn't play a much greater offensive schedule than USU.

you seriously cant compare the freakin MWC to the SEC.....who cares what mizzou ranked compared to you they wouldve beat you by 40 just like they almost did us.stop..

I'm not sure. Perhaps it comes down to this.

The fans of the team that has won 10 games in the past 2 seasons ardently refuses to believe that the team that has won 20 games in the past 2 seasons has any business even being on the same field with them.

Yep. I think that is it.

The biggest mistakes USU made were scheduling the first game of the season vs Tennessee, the second mistake is that it was an away game, the third unforeseen is that it is against a team that will not look at USU as a cupcake. Different Coach. If Dools was HC I would be worried, but he be gone.

You are using bad data, for your prediction. Dooley, Sal, a program in total turmoil. Plus last year was CBJs first year and he was never going to turn it around in one year.

why are these mistakes? get paid a cool million dollars, play on national TV, and start the season 1-0? I just don't see the mistake on our part.

Also NIU is a MAC team that a decent offense and a crap defense that gave up a ton of points to just about everyone. and how many did you put up? 17? i watched them several times and they were one of the "good" teams you played... you couldnt even crack 20 points. i know you have a rebuilt secondary and i also sat in Neyland two years ago and watched dan gray and the defense almost lose us the troy game. dan gray got abused and got benched. hope youre not relying on that kid. our staff knows him and they will chew him up all day.

The mistake is the assumption that USU is going to walk in here and win this game base upon past Tennessee teams.

Tennessee basically hit the reset button last year. Reformat and Reprogrammed and Building.

USU has very little to go as to how our team will perform, most of our fans don't either.

Scheduling the game was not a mistake, thinking you have a shot is.

i agree

thinking this team that has been through some tough times will take this game lightly under coach jones staff on opening weekend in their own packed house is ridiculous

first of all, not only did we not score 17, but nobody scored 17 in the game. We beat them 21-14 with our starting QB, RB, WR, S, and OL out. and it was 21-7 until a minute left in the game.

Second of all, I watched Tennessee get abused on the ground game after game. I hope you aren't relying on your defense to play defense.

Lastly, your passing attack last year was in the bottom 15 in the country. Read that again. Your quarterback and your wide receivers are ranked behind 110 teams. Not only that, but it isn't clear that you have anybody better to step up this year. So why are you worried about our DBs? Do they even have to play?
