USU Scrimmage

I'm not sure. Perhaps it comes down to this.

The fans of the team that has won 10 games in the past 2 seasons ardently refuses to believe that the team that has won 20 games in the past 2 seasons has any business even being on the same field with them.

Yep. I think that is it.

Factor in that the team that only won 10... beat ALL of its opponents that would compare to the 20 the other beat... and you are almost there. Then you can factor in which team replaces lost players with superior talent.

nothing but class on this board. wow i really want to come see these great fans and their great program.

And who the hell are you? I've refrained from making any stereotypical comments until now about the USU fan who's come on this board for about now trying to catalogue how much UT sucks over and over and over again when he has no idea what he's talking about. Also didn't fire back at another USU fan on here recently who made every hillbilly reference he could think of. Finally getting a little tired of the bs coming from an absolutely irrelevant fanbase from an even more irrelevant program.

haven't called anybody a hillbilly. the fact that we're just an irrelevant fanbase to you makes it even more clear what type of fan you are.

and i have no idea what i'm talking about? I'm mirroring what your fans have said for years. why do you have any idea what you're talking about when it comes to usu? how many games did you watch? none, i assume. Yet you assume you know better than me because you cheer for a team that did well in the past and i cheer for a team that sucked terribly until recently. if anybody knows more about the other team, it should be USU since Tenn gets actual national press and USU doesn't. The fact is, USU could put on Cal Poly uniforms and you'd have no idea anything changed, yet you still act like you know something about the program.

Dont take it to heart. Its easy to go to another fan bases message board and talk crap, then disappear when your team starts losing

So you seriously think USU will beat Tennessee?

Yeah... because they've had 3 winning seasons in a row (based mostly on the ability of a coach that is now gone) after having had only 3 non-losing seasons before that since 1980. Surely you can see how that in and of itself proves that they are going to embarrass UT... at home... a team with much more talent.

none of this lines up with anything i have said. and as good as andersen was at recruiting, his coaching single handedly lost us some games too.

No. It was mostly your partner that thinks your recent success against mid-major competition means you stand a great chance of beating UT.

You avg'd about 8 losses per season prior to his arrival, right? I am not sure how you can say he lost ANY games for you. He probably had you competitive in games that would have otherwise have been blowouts.

Didn't say you did, it was one of your USU brethren. Comment wasn't directed at you anyway.

Also, recognizing and then calling your conference and your near invisible football program irrelevant means I'm an informed and accurate fan. If some team from the Mtn West Conf went undefeated and unscored on this year, that team wouldn't get a sniff at playing for a national championship and would be fortunate to finish ranked in the top 15 nationally. UT plays in a conference (which we've won many times) that has had 2 loss teams and teams that didn't even win the SEC title, play for and win the national championship. Just the way it is. See the difference?

Oh yeah, what was your most important home game last year? Bad loss to BYU? You drew 25,000 fans....... we had 61,000+ at our spring game. Why? Because of the traditional relevance and success of our program. Keep trying chief.

odds are odds, this is Vegas in Feb. Tennessee will have to prove that they belong and they will have to earn it.

Its just about what's on paper in FEB and on paper with zero basis or any games and based upon last year. Of course USU looks better.

Enjoy it while you can, because by game time with an unknown Tennessee and unknown USU, the line will be TN -8 or more.

If USU plays Tennessee's schedule the last 4 years and they would not have done any better. Except on maybe on paper. Last year who do they beat that TN did not. Do they even beat USCe. No.

FL = Loss in September, later in the year maybe.
AL = Loss
GA = Loss
MO = Loss
Auburn = Loss
USC = Loss

Vandy = Loss, Reason being is because by the time your team gets to that game it
is decimated by injuries

KY = Toss Up (see Vandy above)

Austin Peay = Win
W Ky = Toss Up
UAB - Toss Up because of previous week beat down by OU

Oregon = loss

Play our schedule take the beatings then you can talk crap. The is a reason that the SEC dominated NCs. Its the schedule, that is what you have to survive. Fans take it for granted. You just can't put a couple of 4*s on the field in key positions and win in the SEC you must also have 4* depth.

You are basing this on Dooley and not our current situation

Add all the other intangibles like first game, 100k fans, a hungry team a healthy experienced QB including a RS Freshman with a stable of RBs and home field.

It may not even be close.

why are you comparing your starting QB to our backup? our QB is on the heisman watch list. Yours? They're 17 and haven't been to prom yet.

edit: i now see you meant last year. but those elite 11 finalists didn't make them play well, did it.

You do know we played our 4th string QB last year due to multiple injuries, right?

Thank you Doyle for the reasonable response.

If I were a UT fan and UT were playing Utah State, I probably would cautiously optimistice about the same thing... Superior talent level should win.

I'd be very happy that the game is at home and with the support of the UT crowd.

I'd also be a bit nervous about the fact that the combined winning percentage of the teams UT has beaten over the past 3 seasons is 0.355.

The problem with your logic, is you just look and wins/loses...

Watch the Georgia game last year or the Vanderbilt.

If you wanna go back longer then last year...

Watch SC, Mizoo, GA

Even more back...LSU

Watch the games we lost...then come back to me.

you seriously cant compare the freakin MWC to the SEC.....who cares what mizzou ranked compared to you they wouldve beat you by 40 just like they almost did us.stop..

You keep banging the SEC drum like you are one of the good teams in the SEC.

UT is 4-20 over the past 3 seasons in the SEC.

UT is one of two teams in the league that has not made a bowl appearance in the past 3 years.

Now, what would our record be if we played Utah States schedule??

Exactly.

I'm done though. See you and those third rate Aggies in August.

Now you are starting to sound like us. LOL!

I will go look at some highlights of those losses if you will tell me the 5 biggest wins for UT in the past 3 years.

We have 6 national titles in or history. What do you have?

Point is: we're a traditional power that's had a downswing and hired a terrible coach to get it of it. Now we have a coach that looks for all intents and purposes legit. We'll see what this not good SEC team shows you on the field. See you then... Go be a MWC homer elsewhere.

And I just re watched the whole NIU game. Not impressed. You lost most of those players too. Why do you think USU will be so good?

Whats USU's record against SEC teams? Yall cant beat them either. You keep banging the "we have 8 wins against weak teams, so we must be good" drum. It makes you good when you beat crappy teams, but diss us for beating the crappy teams we play? USU didnt have to face UF, UGA, UA, AU, Mizzou, USC, or Oregon week after week. It takes a toll on the players and you lose multiple players each week due to injuries. Your team and fanbase pride themselves on keeping it close against any decent team they play. But the fact is, youre still losing those games. Just chill and compare the actual teams (This years teams) and stop dissing UT for losing games against a schedule that 80% of other teams wouldnt survive either. If we played in a smaller conference like yall, we would have more than 5 wins and you wouldnt have a valid point. Yall lost a ton of your starters, so nobody knows if yall will even be close to what you were last year.

It would be interesting to see the combined records of the teams that Tennessee lost to in that timeframe compared to the combined records of the teams USU defeated during the same time.

I would do it myself, but alas, I am lazy.
