Sounds like David really hit a home run on campus yesterday. Second hand info of course but heard AD and Committee extremely impressed. Timing for him and large family appears to be main issue.
Should be over by Friday at latest.
All people involved seem to feel David was clear best option for the situation. I have heard he was the only unanimous option of the three. Sounds like he was definitely offered the job but was having some difficulty working through some issues to be able to move family immediately. I think they are willing to settle for one of the other two. If Delmonico doesn't work out, then they may settle for Corn. Zero chance that Delmonico stays more than a couple of years but it could be helpful. Or possibly let Goss take it for a year and work it out next summer.
The team should have not had the meeting with coach David or any of the other candidates for that matter if they have no imput on the hire. Coach David made a good impression and now the players are looking at being rejected by a quality coach even if the timing is the issue. My opinion is mixed on Coach Delmonico. The dialog here both pro and con has been well covered. Coach Goss would do a better job with the returning roster than Coach Corn. I have talked to parents and former players in Columbia including guys who were starters who acknowledge that he knows the game but would not be excited about playing for him again and sure would not be thrilled to transfer to a program where he was head coach. The talk of him knowing the connection for Juco transfers turns to a negative if you know that. If a better program is to be built finding then retaining talent is important. Don't compound bad timing with a bad hire. The team and the program deserve better. Guess everyone has an opinion. Just had to put mine out there.
Rumors say Corn has been offered and is still considering the job. My same source didn't hear that Delmonico was offered and rejected but after David turned down the job, apparently, Delmonico was the second choice. So, there is a possibility that Rod was offered and turned it down.
I think that Coach Delmonico is the best fit at this time guarantee you he will turn the program around these year ,Please Mr Dane make the decision by tomorrow you are loosing respect among your peers.
Somebody told me this morning that Delmonico was offer the job yesterday ,does anybody know?
If David is the right fit- they need to do whatever possible to make it work this year. I do not believe they can afford a short term solution. Some of the posts about Corn do concern me- specifically that his own JUCO players would not want to come play for him.....that is a big red flag.

I agree. Every coach has players that are unhappy and so on. Only 8 can play at a time and roughly 7-8 pitchers pitch. So somebody is going to feel like they aren't getting a fair shake. As for the search itself....yes laughable. Still never heard of open forums and all that. Also most coaches do not meet with team unless they have some sort of say to administration on who they like. If Tony David is the best choice they should think long term and just do what it takes to get it done. They should have known that starting process this late in the year was going to come with some issues for any of the candidates. They may have to pony up some extra cash or go above and beyond to help a candidate move. Moving should not be a reason not to hire the right guy. And when it is a factor...they have to give the guy a chance to work it out, not expecting an answer in a few hours of making an offer. They should rent a house for David's family until his sells in Bham or give him some sort of housing allowance on top of his salary to make it work. I know that has been done at other places. Like I said they have to look long term on who is right fit not that it may cost them a little extra upfront.

I do not agree with you at all, If coach David would have wanted the job he would had made it work, How many D1 program are available every year not many so if you are in this profession you have to wait for that break and he got it, If he wanted the job he would have take it, I think he didn't want the job or family issues or what ever. So honestly I do not want anybody as the UTM HC that do not want to be here for any reason ,He comes here and It wont last then next year we are looking for another coach and what a joke that will be. .
