UT or OSU for the 8-seed? (Data)

According to what Manuel said at the end of the show, I do not see any way that UT gets to a host a game. He said that they will not penalize teams for playing in a CCG. He also said that teams that do not have another game will not have another data point, so they will not move relative to teams around them that also do not play another game. So the losers of OR/PS and TX/GA will not drop below us, and we will not move relative to OhSt. The only possibility I see is that some crazy CCG result moves us down to #10.

Then Georgia stays at 5 even if they lose because they can't drop? And what about Notre Dame - they can't move either so PSU can't drop below them and can't change locations with Georgia if Georgia loses as well because that would mean PSU moved relative to Notre Dame.

It also implies that the lowest Texas can drop is to 3 - they can't drop below Notre Dame. And Oregon can't drop below Notre Dame.

So basically, Notre Dame could get pushed to # 5 by a team that lost (and maybe even gets blown out in the championship game) because they can only move down.

And this has to apply to all teams so if upsets occur with SMU and Boise State the following MUST happen:

And Boise State can't drop below 10, so if UNLV wins, they are in too.
And SMU can't drop below 9, so if Clemson wins, Clemson is in too.

The Big 12 winner is also in - so Indiana, Alabama and Miami are OUT.

I really don't think he was thinking about the ramifications of what he said. Because to hold to that, he has to be willing put boot Indiana, Alabama and Miami if there are upsets in the Mountain West and ACC games.

You are missing the point, no one said they didn't need to be better. But the game isn't set, it hasn't been played and the refs are already an excuse. Point being stop using the refs as the excuse. To make excuses before playing is loser thinking......that is butch jones thinking, that is Dooley thinking....
I respect what you’re saying. I am still compelled to advocate for an officiating overhaul and this is the only way I know to go about it as a fan. Show me another outlet and I’ll stop telling everyone what I think happened with officiating each game.

Ridiculous. And the committee said more or less the teams that don’t play this week can’t improve their seeding.

He said also the participants will not be penalized. So we may very well see TWO mountain west teams in the playoffs because Boise State IS IN regardless.

If I was Boise State and believed what was said, I would let UNLV win a close game. Same for SMU, let Clemson win a close game. More money for their conferences.

Just wait until it happens in the actual game....

The real winner is whoever plays Indiana again. If OSU can’t get past the SEC, then bring the Big 10 cupcakes to the playoffs. 😂

There may be a bunch of winners before this is over - he is going to regret saying what he did when he has to explain to Boise State why they are out when they lose to UNLV or explain to SMU why they are out when the lose to Clemson. Because he just told both of them they are in.

Well Boise has no excuse as a G5 will never make the playoff as an at large team. Win their conference and go to playoff. Don’t and you’re out. It’s simple.

I bet SMU is left out if they lose.

GA moved up two spots when they in reality lost at home to GA Tech
You know its crazy GT out played UGA @ UGA & basically it was anybody’s game. For the committee they just dismiss that UGA basically got outplayed at home by a team from a conference that will just get 1 team in the playoffs & they’re rewarded. We need to start winning to get favorable calls & placement, you have to be the money team for your conference to get favorable treatment. Right now in SEC its Bama UGA & Texas & the others red headed stepchildren ALSO teams.

I'm actually hoping Georgia gets blown out. I think not only could that potentially help UT, but it makes the Georgia win by Alabama look weaker. Could Miami potentially get in over Bama that way? Who knows, but anything to knock Bama out is what I'm pulling for.
I think the only way Bama gets knocked out is if Clemson beats SMU and SMU slides down to #11 as the final at-large.
