UT or OSU for the 8-seed? (Data)

Funny he should say that when the data point would be a change in the SOS. Some teams could pick up a win over the conference champion. i.e. Penn State wins = Ohio State win over conference champion. Georgia wins = Ole Miss (and Bama) has a win over a conference champion. Data points will always change when games are played, just not data points they care about obviously.
Very fair point

My Dad used to say: Don't spread your legs and you won't get screwed.

We can bitch all day about what other people did or didn't do but we lost to Arkansas. That's on us.

Yeah okay but I think it’s perfectly fine to say losing to an unranked Michigan at home 13-10 is a lot uglier than losing to unranked Arkansas on the road, 19-14.

Michigan is at least a program that's been relevant in recent history. Arkansas..... a friend's kid played bball there when they were good but he's probably 40-45 now.

Michigan is at least a football school. Arkansas is pretty hapless most years.

Looks like it’s gonna be Ohio state at 8 and Vols at 9 at least for the moment but this is what I expected anyway. No way they where ever dropping the Ohio state university behind our hated vols

To blame the refs weeks before the game is played is loser mentality.....
To say they haven’t been questionable for years and to expect them to be objective and fair because it’s not happened yet are the signs of a fool.

Yes. They’re OSU’s biggest rival and they won the championship last year. Both of those things carry weight.

This is nothing more than a beauty pageant. ESPN would love nothing more than to exclude Tennessee, even they know they can’t. So they will place them as low as possible. As they say in Aggieland, beat the hell out of Ohio State! GBO!

I'm actually hoping Georgia gets blown out. I think not only could that potentially help UT, but it makes the Georgia win by Alabama look weaker. Could Miami potentially get in over Bama that way? Who knows, but anything to knock Bama out is what I'm pulling for.

As unbearable as Texas fans will be, I think our best chance at a home game is if UGA loses this weekend. Might need SMU to lose too so they don't jump us.

Edit: SMU losing doesn't matter. We're going to get jumped by ACC champ regardless. Need PSU to lose badly and UGA to lose.

I truly believe they want certain matchups to happen and ranked the teams in anticipation of that.

- First, they want OSU to play at home and not travel
- Second, they want OSU to play an SEC team.
- Third, they would like a rematch of Oregon and OSU because OSU blew that when they lost to Michigan.

So, they sandwiched OSU in a spot between two SEC teams. If Georgia loses and loses badly, they can just switch the teams and get what they want. They might also switch the order to avoid a third Georgia verses Texas matchup.

Miami is going to get booted because the Big 12 champion has to have a spot. They are absolutely NOT in after next week. If Clemson upsets SMU, then they will boot Bama as well as they will keep SMU unless Clemson beats them badly.

If PSU loses, Notre Dame will rise back into the 5 spot which will ruin their Alabama - Notre Dame matchup.

I agree w/ everything you said, but the fact that they lost at home as 20 pt favorites on the last weekend of the year should carry more weight than dropping 4 spots .

My biggest issue with this is the weather in Columbus. It could suck really bad with sleet or snow. Those guys are used to awful weather and we're not.
