Its not just about who we play. For instance, lets say Florida beats UGA and then Bama and then loses to Kentucky and then we beat Kentucky in the final. Auburn loses to us after beating USCe. That's the best-case scenario for us. Now lets say Vandy makes the semis knocking off USCe and Auburn then Missouri and Ole Miss make the bottom of bracket semis. Even if we win out a lot of our good wins are not so good anymore. In general we want the higher-ranked teams we beat to beat everyone they play except us. Them losing hurts us. It's the 2 stats that seem to be most misunderstood SOR and SOS they are not static values and are not completely dependent on just what you do. This is just as true in basketball as in Football if not more.I don’t think it’s that complicated in this case. If we make the final then I think we have it regardless of what UNC does. Remember that 95%+ of the resume is already built. We’re slightly ahead right now in a gap that somehow is narrowing without anything really changing but it is what it is. Come Friday we will play a Quad 1 or 2 opponent, followed by another Saturday. Winning 2 more such games is enough in my opinion. Of course if UNC wants to lose and make it easier that’s ok by me.
History isn’t on UNC’s side when it comes to ACC tournaments, but that conference is very top heavy so I can see another Duke vs UNC rematch in the final sadlyJust walked by the NC State basketball team in downtown DC. Had no idea the ACC tournament was in DC this year lol. Maybe I should buy a ticket to go root against North Carolina.
On First Take Mad Dog said even if we lose the first game in the SECT there "should be an investigation" if we don't get a 1 seed and also picked us to win it all. Pretty high praise from an ESPN talking head.

Yes SOS maters, it’s why with the same 24-7 overall record we are a 1/2 seed and Auburn is a 4/5.Tired of beating a dead horse but I say it’ll one more time.
I know Barnes loves to schedule tough non conference teams. However, does strength of schedule really matter anymore to the selection committee?
We play in a much tougher conference compared to NC and our worst loss is to Texas A&M.
Their worst loss is to Georgia Tech who’s 10-11 this year.
It doesn’t add up.

I once stayed in a hotel in Cincinnati and the Louisville basketball team was on the same floor. Got on the elevator and Rick Pitino got on it with me.Just walked by the NC State basketball team in downtown DC. Had no idea the ACC tournament was in DC this year lol. I'm worried Leonard Hamilton will have his team ready to play tomorrow, and Carolina will come out flat. He has been competitive against both UNC and Duke as long as he's been there. It's interesting that the final 1 line could come down to two conference tournaments. Can Florida State do us a favor tomorrow? Not likely but, they played them decently close twice this season.

I know what you mean....They're not going to look at UNC and say "Well Tennessee is in a football conference, and it's Carolina" Tennessee has built a strong reputation in basketball. They're not going to be overlooked. There's no need to get cynical about it. Now,both of them have to take of things on the court. Most people on this forum swear there’s a bias to give the #1 to UNC simply because they’re a blue blood.
We are still in the drivers seat for a #1.I know what you mean....They're not going to look at UNC and say "Well Tennessee is in a football conference, and it's Carolina" Tennessee has built a strong reputation in basketball. Well these guys are also practicing so it's not like they are sitting around doing nothing.I’d like to chime in on the idea that losing early in the Conf tournament would somehow “save our legs”….. imho, as an old guy - who has been known to enjoy vigorous cardio activities - mountain biking, long distance swimming, road cycling, etc - I can say that more than two days off and I am not as good as I was when doing a hard workout at least every other day -if not every single day.
Three days off and I am regressing. You know what professional cyclists in the Tour de France do on off days ? Ride about fifty miles. So to me, the notion that more than three days off is going to somehow “save our legs” seems like a bad take. Just my .01-
An insightful interview with one of the executives on the Committee. He did confirm they seeded the 1-line last night, but gave himself some wiggle room to change things if needed.
And you certainly could be right. It’s all a guessing game at this point.Gonna beat the conspiracy drums again. My bad take is that the resumes are close enough to ignore and justify which will allow the blue blood bias to carry the day. Someone posted it was great to be hated. Well, while the investigative arm of the NCAA and the committee are "separate", are they really? No bias? No animus?
Nope. This is low hanging fruit for them. I fully expect the shot to be taken any and every time it is presented to them.
I get what you’re saying but with everyone having a nearly completed resume at this point these conference games aren’t going to move teams around enough to make a significant impact on our resume. Its not just about who we play.
