UT/VA Tech @ Bristol?

I believe the Nebraska series is being cancelled but I am not for sure because I think they are scheduling the Va Tech game on the date we were suppose to play Nebraska. Also I have a little inside info living in Virginia and Kenny Chesnut is having a concert the Friday night before the game.

They schedule concerts that far ahead?

This is about to make our recruiting take off to a new level. The opportunity to play in an event like that winning be too much to pass up. Would that not be the largest college football game ever?

Yea....by about 45k fans (If it sells out the 160k seats)

As a Virginia Vol living only an hour away from BMS I have been waiting for this game for years. The CFA Bowl was just a bad matchup for us that year. But Ill finally get bragging rights over the self righteous VT fans I have to live around

Okay, so I put together a scaled image of what a football field would look like at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Assuming the Allison Terrace and The Allisons sections are the same width as the front straightaway, which measures 650 ft., a football field with endzones would be slightly wider than 1/2 the front straightaway.

Seats will be a good distance from the field... Perhaps they can put some sort of temporary bleachers all the way around the field that wouldn't block the view from the permanent BMS seats.

Looks like the people in the endzones will be another 140 yards away from the closest part of the field. People sitting on the sides will be about 70 yards away from the field. And that is the people in the first row. They will have to lower the field to allow for the teams to stand on the sidelines.

Pretty sure 104.5 in Nashville was just running through ideas and brought up the possibility on having it as a 3 day festival with a Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday and the game on Monday night.

I may or may not have snuck through an unlocked gate at the track when I went through Bristol. Here is what the players' perspective would be. Screen Shot 2013-10-09 at 10.51.40 PM.png

#VaTech to play #Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2016, per source. Expected to draw a record 150,000-160k fans.

Discuss...

It can't happen unless the main service buildings are torn down and the center tower is removed and all of the cell phone antennas taken off center tower which we have a contract on those. All of this would cost millions to tear down and replaced, Not gunnu happen.

Have yo ever been to Bristol? The view for a football game would be horrible.

Five times, three in the stands and twice in the pits. Each time with the idea that TN might play VT there at some point in the future and have considered what it would be like to watch a game there. No doubt you would be able to see what was occurring on the field in front of you well. It's not as small as traditional college stadiums, but that's the point.

Makes sense now. Barnett wanted to play in front of 150k instead of Vandy's 150

EDIT: there is always an opportunity to make a crack at Vandy in every thread.

Are they intentionally trying to make the weekend suck or something?

Except it's going to happen. Official announcement on Monday.

If this game doesn't retain the same name idea as the baseball series, it'll be a shame.

Bruton giving the schools 20 million. You think he doesn't have the cash to tear all of that down? Easily done.

Completely agree, Bruton is seeing this as major PR on all TV broadcasts as well as a reason to update and show off said updates of BMS.

Anyone interested in a crash course of who Bruton Smith is may check out Bruton Smith - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

The stars are aligning...never thought we would see this. Say what you will, but this is a crazy-good piece of recruiting ammunition.
