UT will not get better

I think UT is finally realizing how much they need a winning football program. I think cheek finally gets it.

Your GPA at UT is calculated based only on classes that you take at UT. This isn't a Cheek decision. It was that way when I went to school there 20 years ago.

I don't believe this to be entirely true. When I went there and transferred grades (late 70's) the GPA did transfer. Now, only those classes that were "approved" as equivalents transferred. Ergo, 3 years at UT to graduate, not 2. However, UT has never taken BS classes from JUCO as a direct transfer for GPA. Things like math, english, science, and engineering classes went. Other classes transferred as electives and such but not many. I didn't get anywhere near 2 full years of classes that transferred though.

At some pt, the law of averages has to come into this. Could we have hired a more unprepared coach with less ability than DooMan ? We got to get it right sooner or later. Heres hoping .

Hopefully thats the boot he gets.

IMO Fulmer would make a great choice as AD. As stated earlier, he knows what football means to UT.

until a change is made at the very top. The UT admin above Hart IS NOT committed to winning.

We have to hope that we can succeed with what we have. If not, another coaching change in 3 years and another coaching search that ends up being sub-par

Butch Jones may turn out to be great, but who knows. This league is not friendly to coaches without SEC experience.

If UT is going to return to prominence, we have to have the winning attitude start at the top. Its not there with Cheek

Fire Cheek and get someone in that thinks more of the UT AD than an ATM

Problem is even if they were committed to winning it wouldn't matter. This administration is no different than the last. They are ethically and financially bankrupt. I agree it needs to change at the top, but it's not just about their commitment to winning. If the University is nearing bankruptcy because of incompetent management, where do you think that leaves the athletic department?

I was in the College of Communications in the early 90s. There was a required GPA for acceptance into the college and to remain once accepted. Only classes taken at UT counted in that process.

While the university may set minimum standards, it is the prerogative of any of the colleges to add to those standards. Perhaps that was the reason in my case.

If the Vols don't get better they might as well drop out of the SEC....the embarrassment must STOP one way or the other...enough is enough is enough....no more paper bags!

I'd like to see you tell Hart to his face he isn't committed to winning. What an idiotic thing to say, sir. Sub par seach? Do you realize no one wanted to come coach here? I guess he should have thrown all that money that UT doesn't have at Jon Gruden and hope for the best. How dumb of him to try to keep a budget on a sinking ship left by the previous loser. No SEC experience? Come on dude, really? :p

My grades did not transfer when I went to UT. That was 90's as well. You would be correct.

Totally devoid of the truth.

Evidence available of Hart's capital call on the big boosters at the height of the coaching search. have seen the letter. One that never was completed because of Hart/Cheek's choice to use the $6 mill annual academic contribution until the new ESPN/SEC contract kicks in rather than give big boosters more say in the process.

Eventually they will. The question is when? If Butch turns out to be another dud it could be a really long time..

I would love to have that opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, I hope Jones tears it up. He seems like a good man and at the very least a decent coach (both improvements over our last coach) that jumped at the opportunity to coach a historically significant program in the elite conference. I respect that. That shows some moxy given the last few years, and I wish him nothing but the best. However, the hire was about control, absolute control. Look at how much money was involved and where the money, the only money, came from. Look at the search. It's pretty obvious.
