Let's see Coach Pearl takes over a last place SEC team and wins nothing less then 20 games every yr. and takes us to our first #1 ranking. And it's not like the future looks bad considering we have the #4 class in the nation coming in... but yet people here are even considering for a second wanting Pearl gone?!? Who would want to come here after that?!? Let me guess... u'll want to fire Mike Hamilton after he doesn't hire Phil Jackson or Coach K from Duke. I mean, if we run off coach Pearl they'll never be a coach here that we don't run off... hence why would any good coach ever wanna come here except to "Kiffin himself" for his dream job. I'm starting to understand why Kiffin would want to leave... heck I like Pearl even more for not wanting to do so w/ too many TN fans being the way they are. Runnning off Coach Pearl is pure insanity for TN... there's no way they'd ever find a mix of good coach and good salesman that a program like TN needs like coach Pearl. For those that keep talking bout Calipari at KY... I find it ironic how they say "glad Kiffin is gone... he'd just put us on probation"... Calipari has more of a track record of that.
~Please stop the insanity (and this is from a guy that wanted Fulmer gone in 2008... IF Pearl ever has 2 losing yrs. in a 4 yr. span along w/ 2 bad recruiting classes and the prospective season Fulmer would've had ... had he stayed thus yr?!? - Then yes, I will want Pearl gone... THEN... that's quite a while a way if ever)

I don't think you can call Tennessee fans the worst. They just want more. Bruce gets us 20 wins most years and this one is no exception. It's what you do at tournament time that people remember. This team hasn't had a whole lot of success in the post season under Pearl. This particular team doesn't provide much hope that trend will end. They just can't score points consistently enough and when they don't play defense and Wayne is on the bench they lose, it's that simple.

Just as an FYI-the player bashing is actually condemned on some message boards, including Clemson's-if you do it you get kicked off. I have been to several others and comparatively it is pretty rampant here-especially on threads created accessible from the home page. I agree with a lot of what the creator of this thread is saying-this is just counter productive.

I agree with thread starter here. If you dislike the team so bad, find another. Also if a thread is started that someone dislikes they cut you up like you commited a felony. Mis spell a word and the grammer police are all over you. There are so many perfect, know it alls on here its amazing. Better watch out, you know what they did to the last person that was perfect. This is a fan site, one where we like to read news about our teams. You all get over yourselves, this site has nothing to do with you. GBO

With fans like this, UT should scrap the program. This happens over and over. Clausen, Crompton, Prince, Pearl, Hopson, Woolridge. It is amazing any decent player would ever want to play for a team whos fans actually hate their players.
UT fans will get what the deserve, a team that goes to the NIT every 6 years. Congratulations.

I have no problem with criticism of players or coaches, but let it be founded criticism. We are down three scholarship players this year ( negedu, tabb, and smith) and are having a down year, but that happens even to good coaches (Roy williams, Ben Howland, and Rick Barnes). Bruce made us relevant again, but one bad year ( by bruce's standards even though it is a twenty win season) is not worth the hate. Let him have a losing season before calling for his departure.

Couldn't agree more! Real fans want answers to why there team is doing so bad. This team plays very inconsistent and seems to have no heart. If we didn't care then we wouldn't post anything at all. We will be up eight points and then I go to the kitchen and we are done six points this is terrible basketball this team is playing.

And for Gosh Sakes, quit being such cry babies over it. So what?! Somebody said something you didnt agree with. Come up with a good arguement to shut them up or just walk away (figuratively speaking).

It's not really that big a deal. A lot of guys on here just say stuff to piss ppl off and get a reaction. You have to ignore those ppl, and not react, because then you just give them the attention they want.

You know what I am sick and tired of? Ppl letting stuff get under their skin so much. It's just words pal. Who cares? On the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?

Stop acting like it's easy to ignore. The main page is littered with these threads. As soon as you bring this site up half of the most popular threads or most recently created are bashing some player. If being negative is what makes these people great fans, good for them I guess. Personally, I don't understand being so negative about everything surrounding UT athletics. If something makes you so angry why make it a part of your life?

Every season it's the same-this guy sucks, this coach sucks, this guy can't play, etc, etc, etc. It's a tired act, and the most negative opinions always come from the same people-those who have never played organized sports. They sit behind their PC and bash the likes of Wayne Chism (an undersized center who has played through a lot of pain this year and become the main guy when he was never suppossed to be) or Crompton (a guy who comes back after getting freaking death threats and puts together a great year, only to be appreciated in the very end by UT fans). Heck-someone even put up a thread early in the football season bashing Janzen Jackson. While most college football writers were calling him one of the best freshman in the nation, UT coaches wondering aloud if he would be better than Eric Berry, we have a "fan" starting a thread asking why he's even in the lineup.

You all might like the negativity, even feed off of it, but it does not get us anywhere. The team doesn't need it, recruits sure don't like it, and it makes us all look bad-like the ridiculous booing at the UCLA game this year. And for those proponents of the "player X sucks" threads-pretend all you want it happens on rival boards-for the most part it does not, and is normally not allowed by moderators.

I think this is ridiculous. One stinking loss and the nation goes crazy. It's hard to win on the road. It's harder when you are playing a team that is fighting for a spot in the NCAA. FLA has a lot of talent. They have a great record in the SEC. It's not like we lost to a bad team. Remember, this is basketball. The real games don't start until March.

Get a grip, please.

Every school has its share of negative fans. We certainly do as well. Coach Pearl is one of the best things to happen to the SEC in a long time. UT is a good basketball program and perenially ranked in the top 25. Heck there are some Gator fans calling for Billy's head after a career that includes three final fours, two NCs and 12 straight 20 win seasons which is the longest current streak in the conference. Don't feel like you are alone. Losing brings out the worst in people.

Good luck in the SEC and NCAA tourneys.

While I don't agree that the Tennessee Fans are the worst fans I do think they may be the combination of the most fickle and most vocal fans.

It's amazing to read the posts by the same people but with different tones if the post comes after a win or a loss. We all like wins better, but remember these are just kids. They aren't able to perform at the level that most of us remember that we could.

It amazes me how quickly things change when you win. You have part of the fan base that idolizes the coach, who can no longer do any wrong, and another part that criticizes every minuscule thing that goes wrong when the coach isn't as dominant as they think he should be, and then part kinda somewhere in between. I'm part of the in-between crowd myself. I truly appreciate what CBP has done for this team, university, and fan base by giving us success we haven't seen in quite some time. On the other hand, it is frustrating to see the same mistakes made over and over. Poor free throw percentage(not the coaches fault he has emphasized this in the past and it is still largely non-executed), lack of understanding in a zone(they are far too content to stay on the perimeter and shoot the three), and a mindset that seems to make them better as an underdog than as a favorite. I think the circumstances of this season have made this frustrating. I had high hopes that Hopson would mature, Tyler would lead the team, and we could contend for at least the Elite Eight, but it is hard to say I honestly see that unless they get super hot during the tournament(which beating Kansas says they may), but a lack of quality height(I do not like Brian Williams as much more than a big body who can grab a few boards) can cause some ups and downs. It is very hard to win consistently if you are a team that settles for the jump shot. Every team will zone us because it has shown we can't beat it(I would and I'm sure Coach Pearl would as well).

Fans have the right to criticize their team, and coaches accept that fact. Granted, some people take their criticisms too far, but such is life. It is possible to disagree with a coach or team play, and still be a fan. It is unfair to say that being a fan is only supposed to be drinking the kool-aid no matter what.
