I think this kid would outgrow the star position before he ever got to UT's campus. I said this awhile back, but Tim Banks really wants to be multiple on defense. He just hasn't had the athletes to do it yet. He wants to be able to run some true 4-3 looks. Hybrid 3-4 looks. Non traditional nickel packages. You have to have versatile athletes to do those things though. The idea is to constantly stay in attack mode and cause mass confusion for offenses and QBs. Hopefully, we'll be there by 2024.I’m no position expert but just based on his HUDL it looks like he plays more off the line, kind of like McDonald in our defense. I wonder if that’s what we’re recruiting him for, that STAR position
I saw where Hobbs is up to 290 already. Hes a guy that can rush inside and out. West will operate in a similar roleI think this kid would outgrow the star position before he ever got to UT's campus. I agree that we will see some of it this year. A lot of the pieces are there now, just young and inexperienced. That's why I think next season is when they'll start to really open it up on defense. This year's defense will be much better purely based on experience and guys being healthy. We are loaded with seniors (many of them 5th year guys) throughout the 2 deep. Mixing all that experience with some young talent has worked out well for many teams that make a run at a championship.I saw where Hobbs is up to 290 already. Hes a guy that can rush inside and out. You got Elijah Herring and Arion Carter. The edge guys Josephs, Pearce, Caleb Herring.
Speed guys at CB with Gibson and Matthews. Good looking bodies at safety as well.
Defensively, with Beasley at ILB and the veterans all across the defense, we'll be able to start doint exactly what you're talkint about. Expect another jump up for the defense this season
I'm really rooting for my Alma Mater to beat the Hurricanes the first game of the year and prove they are the real Miami. I'm even rooting for Texas A&M to beat Miami at this point. I want to see that program burn.AP said on the pod that Miami is the main threat, but we got him to hold off from committing. He will visit this month
l prefer them to be viable to a degree b/c it hurts fla more than it hurts us. They take more recruits away from fla than they do us. Same as fla state. Them 2 being somewhat relevant hurts fla dearly. The 1 recruit miami steals from us, they take 4-5 away from fla. I look at as a cost to keep fla from operating at optimal levelI'm really rooting for my Alma Mater to beat the Hurricanes the first game of the year and prove they are the real Miami. Florida didn't even recruit Florida this year. An insane strategy, but seems to have gotten good results.l prefer them to be viable to a degree b/c it hurts fla more than it hurts us. Because miami n fla state have become relevant. Florida not recruiting in-state is not sustainable for their program long term. And if they struggle this year, out of state commits are more likely to flip than in-state commits.Florida didn't even recruit Florida this year. There's 40 4 stars in Florida. Florida could land top 10 classes by recruiting Orlando to south of Atlanta.Because miami n fla state have become relevant.
