Vaccine or not?

Honestly… you’re full of **** then.

I know several that have had to go to the hospital the past couple of weeks and wait times, people getting treated in ER hallways, lack of visitation for patient advocacy, patient diversions etc. are horrible here.

We’re supposed to go to Disney World for the 50th anniversary Oct. 1. Because I’m vaccinated and have now had COVID, the COVID risk for me is very low. But we’ll likely cancel our trip for exactly the reasons you said. I don’t feel comfortable that the overburdened health care system in Florida could take care of us if we needed emergency care.

Not attacking or coming at you, just generally stating, maybe the vaccine isn’t just to protect you. Maybe to protect others who do fall in those categories. I got the jab, but not because I’m afraid of the virus. I am young and healthy. I got it to protect my child and for people I come into contact with who are older in my family.
Just because you are vaccinated, that doesn't protect anyone else. Fauci and Wallensky had said this a month ago.

You're just a big of a spreader as the unvaccinated.

I actually ended up catching the virus. Ran a fever for 10 hours and lost taste and smell. Didn’t know I had it until after lunch when I had been around people all day. Nobody I was around ended up catching the virus. Not even my kid who I was playing with in the floor before I went to work. So I would say it did it’s job. Most things I’ve seen say the viral load isn’t as much in vaccinated people, but I don’t know if that’s changed or not.

Another husband/wife paramedic couple
Go redemption! Still, sucks that it took being infected to realize the risk. At least he’s encouraging people to get vaccinated.
I don't understand how a paramedic could possibly have been so blind to the dangers of COVID. Where has he buried himself for the past year and a half? What level of lack of empathy - not to mention basic observational and logical reasoning - to not realize COVID is real and a life threatening terrible disease until you actually have it. It didn't take any of us having to be admitted to a hospital to recognize the danger to ourselves as well as the larger danger to those around us if the virus was able to keep finding susceptible hosts.

If you appreciate the rarity of developing complications of covid, I’m sure you can appreciate how incredibly rare and unlikely it would be for a vaccine to present with long term side effects based off history and understanding of how vaccines and side effects work. If you can provide strong evidence on a theory on why these vaccinations can produce long term side effects (years down the road) and tell me the physiological possibilities of how this can come to be, I will gladly listen. Otherwise, I’m not going to waste time trying to disprove a pink elephant in the room.
This is not the typical vaccine rollout.

And really? You want me to provide evidence of the unknown? You're not being serious right now? How in the hell can I tell you what unknown side effects this thing may have?

You do you.
We will all be better off as more people are vaccinated.

If science told me that I have a 99% chance of driving from Franklin back to GA without serious injury or death, but that percentage goes up to 99.9% if I wear a seatbelt, I'm wearing a seat belt.

Got to go now, long drive ahead.
Wearing a seatbelt is not the same as injecting an unknown therapeutic in your arm that has gone through a hurried approval process. Are you serious right now?

Indeed they can be, but seemingly to a lesser extent because of lesser viral load.
Damn man, we just went through this a month ago. Michael Rappaport went from a hero to a super spreader...

CDC reversal on indoor masking prompts experts to ask, ‘Where’s the data?’

New recommendations from federal health officials this week on when vaccinated Americans should don face masks came with a startling bolt of news: People who have had their shots and become infected with the delta variant of the coronavirus can harbor large amounts of virus just like unvaccinated people. That means they could become spreaders of the disease and should return to wearing masks indoors in certain situations, including when vulnerable people are present.

Let’s review who is vaccinated.

Donald Trump and all the living US presidents.
All 50 governors both Republican and Democrat.
Nearly 100% of congress.
96% of all American physicians.
And soon to be 100% of our military.

But do you know who is not vaccinated?

99% of the patients dying of COVID.

Really good news out of Israel about the boosters. Efficacy at just preventing symptomatic disease with the boosters back above 90% with delta. Now israel opening up boosters to everyone and those with third vaccine don’t have to quarantine if exposed. Given the levels of antibodies reported with the boosters hopefully it will last for a decent time (longer than the primary series did).

Why do people push it? Because it's an easily transmitted disease. Just a brief encounter with the air surrounding a stranger is enough catch it. That's how your choice impacts us.
If covid is so easy to transmit, shoudnt we see a higher infection rate then 10 or 11% of the world population...easy transmission would be the cold virus...every one get it. Some 2 to 3 times a year

I, respectfully, strongly disagree. Trials have only begun in children, and a huge chunk of parents will not give their children a vaccine without full FDA approval (as opposed to Emergency Use Authorization). Even if the FDA fast-tracked approval, it would cause an all-out war. Will not happen.

Thankfully, as we approach herd immunity, it won't be necessary.
You still think we will get herd immunity?

Yes, if for no other reason than they are less likely to have the virus.
Honestly at this point I think that’s a stretch as we keep crunching the data. I’d guess the bigger benefit is likelihood of less severe outcome that case seems to correlate better. But honestly that too assumes your body reacted correctly and you’ve got the antibodies on hand to fend it off.

I will take it. My guess is a year from now they will require for schooling for kids. Better me be the guinea pig then them.
I can’t see schools (atleast in this area of the country) requiring it. I’ve been vaccinated and my wife is getting her second dose in a week or two. But as of now we would not have our child take it (he’s 1).

Sort of… I misread the post I was responding to.
That was clear. But still there are significant numbers of vaccinated transmitting the virus now too. Again if your body reacted to the vaccine correctly I’d guess the bigger benefit is you have the antibodies on stand by.

I’d like to see us ease up the tone on hammering the vaccine and spool up production and availability of the MAb treatments. We already know that we’re gonna see vaccinated and unvaccinated contract the disease so let’s make sure we have the therapeutics on hand to address that 🤷‍♂️
