If they're desperate enough they will. I'm not convinced quite yet that CTV is their #1 target and that everyone else turned them down, but if it does get down the list Woodward will likely overpay in order to try and "save face".

Every thread I visit is filled up with Y9 turds. I just don't understand how such a decorated mega booster, former AD, former ump, former player can get his kicks filling up these threads with nonsense....unless...unless....oh yes, that's it... he's a low fi troll.

I agree. They will definitely go that high for their target. There’s just zero factual evidence that target is Vitello… and I know y’all have seen how much I love Tony but there’s no justification to pay that much for him. That would be double the salary of the current highest paid coach. That’s Corbin, Sully money.

Oh, I agree that no justification to pay him that much. As much as he’s accomplished over these past four years, he doesn’t have to resume to pay that high. If LSU is desperate enough, however, they will. I don’t think he’s their top target either.


Woodward has a ruthless reputation as an AD.

Yeah that AD is a madman which is why I also agree TV isn’t the target. Doesn’t match the level of any of his other high profile hires.

I’ll also add Im pulling for State to win this all now. So many of their fans in Omaha and not a single one of them said anything bad towards us. In fact, had multiple congratulating us on our season (and that was before we lost today). That’s one classy baseball fan base.

Agreed; he doesn’t fit the profile of a big name Woodward splash hire. Sully is, and was nearly LSU’s new HC if not for the numerous skeletons in his closet.

I know we all love Tony V, and I think that our emotional investment is somewhat coloring our collective analysis of their search/realistic offers, etc.

Based on things that are floating out there, LSU is prepared to spend $2M for a new coach, and they want to make a huge splash hire. Would they necessarily consider TV to be this incredible splash hire worthy of top 1-2 pay in the country? I think we all believe him to be a great coach, and I think we all believe that the turn around here has been phenomenal. I think they guy rocks, and he's fully broken me of the post Kiffin "no coach worship ever again" schtick. But, LSU is a different animal, and when the guy that just retired (a somewhat forced retirement) was a national champion when you hired him, is a relative up and comer (a) a splash hire, or (b) worth tip-top money?

Maybe all of these answers are yes, and maybe I'm just thinking about this with orange tinted glasses because I don't want TV to leave. I mean, I already invested in a new baseball hat, and that is an investment I don't want to regret.

I didn’t get a good vibe from his post game. If anything, I got the feeling of a man emotional about leaving regardless of all that was provided him. Just my feeling.

LA Vol said that the plan was to pump money into LNS after the new tv money came in, but Fulmer realized they needed to fast track it for sooner. So, Fulmer talked to TV about it and had already lined up donors for the money before this year. You have to remember that Fulmer gave TV his raise after 2019, and Covid put a pause on spending. TV would have gotten another raise if last season was played. LA Vol knows his stuff.

I’m trying to decipher were the tears, tears of joy simply for how much fun he had and how special this season was or were they the realization that this special chapter is over for good. I instantly thought the former and told myself he’s locked in then re-watched it and my mind started changing for the first time throughout all the rumor season.
