Vitello Will Not Leave Tennessee. . .

While it was over 10 years ago, I think LSU’s was about $38 million. I mentioned to a Miss. State friend that we have committed $35 million, and he said you can do a whole lot with it. Close to even building a brand new one. We will never get to Dudley Noble, but they have a huge built-in fan base. Florida is struggling for fans with a $60 million stadium.
I also don’t get the land argument. That road in right field can be done away with. It’s not totally necessary to be there. The parking lots can be moved too, we walk for football games so I don’t see why we need a parking lot right up the stadiums ass.

Not the best way to look at it because a lot of that money is to just fix wear and tear of LNS, not add on. There will be some really nice additions but it will only account for like half of the allotted money. Middle of the pack in SEC is probably fair. Maybe 5th-7th. Miss State, USCjr, LSU, Arkansas, and Ole Miss have great stadiums already

The question is whether or not a refurbished LNS and associated facilities are good enough to support a championship level program or not. If they are, then that's good enough. If they aren't, then we should scrap LNS and start over.

I think LNS is a fine foundation to build on. Just extend it down the lines and put some luxury seating out in left. Then boom you have a great college stadium.

I don't see it. He does well at UVA and I think it's incredibly hard to lure coaches in any sport from those elite academic institutions. I think the character of the people they hire to begin with is what makes it so challenging.

Maineri did an interview with local Baton Rogue radio last week and he said he wanted O’Connor to succeed him at LSU, but couldn’t convince him to leave UVA.

That was Maineri’s attempt.. If Woodward comes calling, who knows what may happen.

Money talks. I said it for Vitello, and it applies to O’Connor. It’d just take a hell of a lot to get him to leave Virginia. Those lifer coaches don’t leave, hence the term lifer. But scott Woodward is insane so

I would add double decker porch seats in both LF & RF. Extend 3B line seating as you said. Add premium boxes down 3B line as well, as you said. Definitely need to upgrade concourse/concessions. Also need to renovate the entrance.

I agree in right field but that damn road man lol. I think it should just be torn out, it doesn’t really have to be there.

It's a little more complicated than that. You can't just decide to close an existing roadway. Fire, Rescue, and police services have a say-so, and in this case, so would the railroad company, CSX. It might be able to be done through negotiations and alternative solutions, but it can't be done just cause the AD might want it done. And, in any case, it's only the right field wall area that is kept from expansion by the roadway. There's enough space for left field stands.

Ole Miss’s was built in 1989 before LNS. They have done renovations, but it’s still the bones of a 1989 stadium. I’ve never been there, but people say the fans are what are attractive to it.

Can't beat the beer showers

That’s fair. It isn’t really a necessary road though. I think it starts at the frat houses and whips around to connect to the road behind third base stands. It’s pretty short, already in disrepair.. idk. I think it could get torn out easier than most.

Yeah they’ll probably cover the road down the 3B side with stands. They could get rid of that road behind the OF wall but what do you really put back there?

I think it’d be cool if we built up instead of out too. Fans just towering over you when you’re at bat. Would be a hell of a home field advantage. But building that way is significantly more expensive

Doubt they’ll go up behind home plate with this renovation, but I agree with the concept. They’ll have to eventually with the current land space available. They need a courtyard behind the stands by each baseline for concessions.

I don't see why they aren't targeting Mississippi State coach. He's been successfully running a high-stress program and has taken his team to the CWS both years it's been available. He was moderately successfull for four years at Indiana before that.

Mississippi State beat Virginia last night to keep the SEC alive in the CWS.

While we can get into a discussion about whether that is a lateral move, it is close. MSU has a huge baseball following, great venue, and will pay what it takes to keep a good coach. I don't think Lemonis would leave.

In my opinion, Lemonis is a great example of where Vitello could be in two years if he stays.

LSU will pay what it takes to get a good, established coach. Just ask Kim Mulkey. If they made Lemonis an offer he can't refuse, they might get him. And then they would have put a dent into a program that is their SEC West rival. 2 birds - one stone.

Mulkey had other reasons- she had soured on her AD and administration. It was a relationship issue. MSU will match what LSU pays, and their program is almost as just as good as LSU's.

you gotta think this drives his price down a fair bit. if this is true then he's lost a lotttttt of negotiating power.

I doubt Tony has given it one thought. He was all in on this postseason and probably tuned everything out. Now he's back home and he's like "wtf is all this crap. I'm home" - Tony (I hope)
