Vitello Will Not Leave Tennessee. . .

You fools need to understand that there is no such thing as hiding an extension. I hope he signs, very much, but it will be announced the second it is a done deal.
You are the fool if you think an agreement in principle could not have been reached. Until a contract is signed, the public will not be informed.

I don't see why they aren't targeting Mississippi State coach. He's been successfully running a high-stress program and has taken his team to the CWS both years it's been available. He was moderately successfull for four years at Indiana before that.
He was raised in Starkville for awhile while his dad was in grad school at State and I believe his family is originally from the MS Gulf Coast so there’s a bit of a home connection there. Plus, MSU is everything LSU is minus the titles; you have a palace for a stadium and a gameday environment that’s every bit as good or better than LSU.

Of course it will be announced. Nobody has said otherwise. It is very possible that an agreement has been made in principal and that hasn't been announced.

i don't think any of those jobs are better than Tennessee's.

Your concern was his lost bargaining power, not whether those were better jobs or not. If one of them comes after him with a lot of money, his bargaining power goes up. UT should still go all in to keep him. LSU still hasn't signed anyone yet, and until they do I'm not going to count my chickens.

No matter what openings get filled give the man the highest salary in the country, If not we may lose him down a year later for slighting him. Tennessee baseball was an absolute dumpster fire before him, whether we have to match and offer or not pay him everything.

I agree that TV is a great coach, and you don't find many that can get you to the World Series in 4 years (probably 3 if we had a season last year) Anyone who says their program is too good is FOS. I am glad he will be staying and will be eagerly waiting for the news that he has signed the extension.

You gotta think its Godwin if Mainieri is involved..he coached at LSU under him for 2 years..other 2 don't have any ties ...the only reason you announce 3 is to get raises for the 2 you don't want and encourage your guy to negotiate

1. He cant repair 20 years of neglecting baseball in 6 months. LSU is ready made for success.

2. Money and facilities talk. If he was so loyal he wouldn't have left TCU for a lateral job at Arkansas.

3. Knoxville is a better town than Baton Rouge.. But our baseball complex isn't

4. again, money talks.
You're so full of sh^t your eyes must be brown. Give it a rest with the negative sh^t.

Starkville or Baton Rouge....that's like asking if you want to be shot or hung from a tree

It happens ALL THE TIME. When a new coach is hired (think football) they NEVER have a signed agreement at the press conference. Live and learn, people. There is a thing called “agreement in principle” and that is the golden language.

Nobody seems to have that with CTV yet, which means there is NO deal.
