Vitello Will Not Leave Tennessee. . .

It happens ALL THE TIME. When a new coach is hired (think football) they NEVER have a signed agreement at the press conference. Live and learn, people. There is a thing called “agreement in principle” and that is the golden language.

Nobody seems to have that with CTV yet, which means there is NO deal.

And how exactly do you know there's not an agreement in principal in place?

It’s principle, first of all. It would be announced if they have one. It means that ALL material terms are agreed and all they have to do is reduce it to writing and sign it (which, leaves it to the lawyers).

Thanks for the grammar lesson, but it still doesn't mean that it couldn't be completed and their just waiting to announce correct? I mean the team just got home today. I would think the earliest anything would be announced would be Friday.

Not a chance. It will be announced immediately. Why would they wait? To give current players and recruits more uncertainty?

The ole mou or whatever the term was during the Gruden fiasco

The general public would not hear about an agreement before a contract is signed; that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Call C. Ryan Stinnett’s office if you want proof of the process when we hired the football coach. That’s all I’m going to say on the matter. I posted during that hiring process that a contract was ready to sign before most knew. The agreement in principle was finalized before that.

Arizona would be tempting the others are at best lateral moves

Arizona couldn't come close to matching UT (or any SEC school) on money. The disaster that is the Pac-12 network has left every school in the conference (excluding Stanford) in a cash crunch compared to other leagues.

LOL you believe some rag in LA has the scoop on the search?
I'm not saying that this is the gospel. I already said earlier I didn't think vitello was high on LSU's board. Most of the folks talking about vitello down there are fans. I've learned from our coaching searches what the fans think and want doesn't even get considered. Im pretty sure our fan base wanted freeze and kiffin. Do you think either one of them got an interview? Do you think either one of them were remotely considered for our job? The answer is no and we wound up with heupel

I'm not so sure that was a win for U.T. I was mildly optimistic when we hired Kiffen, but Dooley (his resume for God's sake), Jones (strictly bargain basement), and Pruitt (are you kidding?) left me cold in the same way hiring Todd Raleigh did (Dooley level resume). Sadly, I was right about each of those guys. I don't feel any better about Heupel. Someday, like a blind hog finding an acorn, U.T. will hire the right football coach and, if I live that long, I'll get the same feeling about him that I get from Vitello.

Mike Hamilton man.. Fires Rod Delmonico and Philip Fulmer to hire Kiffin and Raleigh. Amazingly bad.

I agree. I didn't say that these administrators shouldn't listen to their fans. I wish ours would have in all those same instances. Maybe our football program wouldn't be in the shape its in. I'm taking the wait and see approach with CJH and hopefully he is the golden acorn. But back to the point I don't think these administrations care about what the fans want. And in my opinion the only people wanting tony vols at lsu are lsu fans. And funnily enough their fans are probably right and he's probably the best coach they could hire and they will make some dumb hire just like we do in football.

Whoever they hire will be elite. That’s what they’re down to on the final 3 candidate list.
