VN Baseball Coaching Search 2011

The same guy that put it in my mind that Holbrook would withdraw, now says it's a coin flip in SC's favor. LOL...

Wtf...No kidding...I went to the store, a C-store to grab some beer. As I pulled in, I noticed an average sized lawn tractor pulling a red wagon with a child in it, parking alongside a gas pump. There was a giant power T on the front of the mower, which was missing its blades. I'm not making it up.

The rest of the day, has been just like that.

How can you hire a baseball coach AND be at the COI meetings? I thought we wouldn't hear anything about baseball today and planned accordingly. Hyams wrecked my day.

Here's what we know...Not s*&t.

I probably need to back away from the computer slowly.

South Carolina, if they win tomorrow or the next day will advance. Holbrook has got games left to play, Serrano does not. I do not put much stock into what Whittle says in terms of time frame, but I do think there is a strong contingent within the Vol AD, that prefer him to Serrano. That doesn't mean that Serrano wasn't in town today, it doesn't mean that Holbrook is the first choice, but...

I will say this. If Serrano is the fall back candidate? Well played UT.

GBO!

"As TheBigSpur.com has reported over the last few days, Holbrook is now considered the leading candidate for the UT position with the departure of athletic director Mike Hamilton, who threw his support behind Serrano."

per Whittle

"What is not true is Serrano was not on campus on Saturday and has not had a formal interview. He will travel to Knoxville either Tuesday or Wednesday for an interview with the Volunteers."

per Whittle

nice use of a dbl negative.

and..just to cover my own behind, from an afternoon Whittle report...

"A source early Saturday afternoon stated that Holbrook may withdraw his name from the search at Tennessee as early as today."

weird, the CSF fans have been sending Serrano out the door for weeks...even today, resigned to the fact he's gone.

this is what I expected...

"Like I have posted a couple times this really, really bothers me that this is happening while we make our run to Omaha. They can wait until after we are done whether that be Tuesday or two weeks from Tuesday."

something is off...G'night VN and GBO!

Let's see what Hyams has to say on the "Sport Source" tomorrow at 11 AM. Pretty sure we'll have to sit through an hour of "what would the idiot fans say" before or if there's any baseball talk.

officially done i am...

I like twitter. However, you get a lot of crap slinging in it. Constant rumor chasing will cause a roller coaster.

Joan just tweeted that she has a lot of praying & baseball to watch...the search is nowhere near done

I agree. I think for a short while last night, VN was the guy that makes the Roller Coaster go.:p

Just fast forwarded through the Sport Source show and Hyams said nothing about what he reported yesterday. Pennington tossed a question to Cavalaris about the degree issue with Wilkerson sitting right next to him. Strange that the voice of Vol Baseball wasn't asked anything.

I don't think we're going to hear anything from the Tennessee side today, now that the bosses are back in town.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Wilkerson. It was obvious that before the show that Wilkerson made it clear he could not/would not speak about the baseball saga.

I still think the presser will be Tuesday or Wednesday.

No matter what, I assume we will announce our new coach, Holbrook or not, before the CWS.

If you believe what all the writers/bloggers etc. say and that Cronan wanted it done quickly. Yes.

It sounds like if they really want Holbrook, then they are going to have to bend over backwards to accomodate his time table. Also the cash. Serrano may be a bargain compared to Holbrook. Just more speculation on my part, so tifwiw.

Yeah TIFWIW. It's hard for me to choose between Serrano and Holbrook but I'm leaning more towards Holbrook.
