Adidas and Nike both make top of the line performance gear. It's just individual preference. Nobody is going to change shoes from adidas and to Nike and take 2/10ths off their 40 time.

UA has alright gloves. I have heard their cleats suck but I don't know from first hand experience. The worst thing about Adidas is that their apparel always felt heavy. Skill players hate feeling like the gear they have on is heavy.

Everyone says UA's cleats suck, but I wore a pair during my football days, and they were pretty comfy for the most part.

In a post not related to which brand UT wears, I would like to ask anyone else if the new orange Uni's look a little too light/almost yellow. I like the new fit, but we really need to try to stick to the original orange.

you mean the Nike check that would be for less than what Adidas gives UT? Also pretty sad that people want a brand to represent UT that views us as a second-tier program. That's insulting IMO

from a purely business standpoint (not the emotional crap most people put on here) how would you see TN?
the reason Nike sees TN as second tier is they (fans) dont buy products (nike or adidas) like oregon, tx, usc, miami, ohio state, michigan, etc fans do. thats why those teams are seen as top tier.
has nothing to do with "my team is better than yours"

No, they look orange to me. My avatar has a picture of JH in them.

it's an old article but pretty much says that many of the teams you view as better sellers are really not.

Adidas takes care of my school with more money and better representation and sees them as a valuable partner. Nike doesn't so why should I support them?

To be fair, USC, Ohio State, Miami and others aren't represented by the CLC and are not reflected in those rankings.

Not to mention we are going through one of our roughest times ever. When we are good we buy as much as anyone, and it says a lot when you still buy during down years.

On another note, how about a one off game evey now and then with an orange helmet like in my avatar?

Great post, imo.

Arky = Adidas

They were adidas until this season, but signed a new deal for less money in the spring.

The Nike people were hoping to capitalize early with the expected Heisman campaign for Mallett. The ironic thing is that most publications and TV stations have been using stock photos and video from last season that show him wearing adidas. Nike is pretty livid at that from what I hear.

our uniforms do not need to change. orange jersey, orange pants, white jersey, white pants, and white helmet: thats all we need. that gives us o/o, o/w, w/w, w/o.

remember when it was a big deal when we came out in orange pants? i think it would be cool to keep the black jerseys around, maybe even add some black pants, but only dress in them for special occasions/big games/whatnot. if you throw in black jerseys and pants that would give us: o/o, o/w/, o/b, w/o, w/w, w/b, b/o, b/w, b/b (9 total looks)

i thought the black jerseys with orange pants last year looked awesome and I would imagine that the black jerseys would also look good with white or black pants. I have a harder time imagining what black pants would look like with white or orange jerseys so im not quite sure about that.

we certainly don't need a "makeover" though, IMO. keep the black around and bring em out every once in a blue moon.

What's the harm in a make over? I just don't understand what the big deal is? Let the players wear whatever they want.

Nike is the same way, as are most. I really like adidas stuff more and more, especially the new black scorch polos!

I...nor anyone I know...have any problems with Nike clothing. I always can walk right in a buy it. Adidas, Reebok I have to try it on first. My bf has the same problem with Adidas and Majestic.

I hate Adidas. It's never sized properly. You always have to go up like a size or 2

Nike stuff always runs smaller and Adidas bigger on me. I like Adidas shoes better because they last longer. I buy a pair of Nike shocks and they usually tear up within 2 months. Nike stuff is just cheaply made imo. Adidas is by far a better quality product.

Not so much. What happened to the "no one is bigger than the university" stuff? Dooley is a traditionalist. According to Hubbs when he met with adidas about the uni's it was to talk about making the orange more Tennessee orange and not so yellow. Also, taking some of the black out of the white uni's. Adidas will do anything UT asks them as far as uni's go. Unless you are one of Nike's top 10, you more than likegly take what they give you. I like the new adidas uni's and besides maybe a better font for the names and numbers I hope they don't change.

You must be rough on shoes, I had a pair of Shox last me 4 years while looking brand new the whole time and played basketball in them frequently. Nice post count btw 666

They are still wearable after the first few months, but start to wear out quite a bit. Not really believing the whole look brand new after 4 years thing tho.
