This is just baseless speculation on my part but with the nike/nfl deal in place Adidas is losing it's edge.

And with Dave Hart here, it wouldn't shock me to see us switch when the current contract runs out.

DP has commented on this before, at length. I believe the main point for our relationship with Adiddas is that they give us top shelf respect, focus, and attention, as to where Nike would basically treat us like a number in line.

Exactly. We are regarded as on of the "Big Boys" to adidas.

Nike has us on par with Maryland , etc.

I know. ...I'm not one of the nuts with torches and such just waiting to burn the adidas store down. ...it was just an extrapolation based on the nike/nfl deal.

On the contrary, the speculation in the industry is that Nike will now be spending less in college than they were prior because of their NFL deal.

Tomorrow.

the new fan stuff is already on sale.

Nice. It'll be interesting to see what changes are/aren't made to certain teams.

I'm sure some teams are beyond touching (ie Green Bay) but I expect to see some Nike-ness done to others (Carolina, Seattle, etc.)

I liked the away unis with the orange neck. I think it looked sharp. Dooley hated it though for some reason.

DeerPark, I have wondered for a while:

The UNLV game uni in '04 were good looking but I have heard that they couldn't be full time away unis because there is too much orange on the top. Is that the real reason for that? And how is it really that different that what Arkansas wore a few years ago?

I heard something similar and thought the same thing.

Dooley didn't hate it, there was a problem in his mind with the color of the numbers, so they had a new set made. Because of the quick turnaround, the second set didn't have the collar. It is my understanding that the orange collar will return this season.

That was a question UT asked as well. I would think that, based on the designs the NCAA has approved in recent years, those or something similar might be allowed if submitted now.

The difference between the two was how far down the front of the jersey the orange extended, below the collar, while the jerseys that Arkansas, Michigan and others have worn do not.

I think a modified version that just covered the shoulders could be approved, but I don't know that Dooley wants to go in that direction.
