I'd like them to have 1 alternate jersey once a year. What year was it when we opened up the season with the orange on top of the pads and the rest white. I think shaffer was qb that year. I like those old school unis. The traditional power house teams are changing up there unis for at least a game. Oklahoma,Michigan wore throw backs, nd throw back, Ohio st wore some ugly thing they called a uni. College football is a changing

How about orange helmets??

One of these is what you would get if you were a Nike school. The other is what you get for being an Adidas school.

I actually like the checkerboard idea. AND the orange helmet.

heck, I like both ideas. And the players would like both. You have to step outside the box. And it would draw attention in the recruiting circles. Then the key is, you have to win the game that you wear them in. Otherwise they become bad luck.

Michigan State wore silver basketball uniforms a total of ONE time, and got their hats handed to them while wearing them. Wont happen again. Same with this idea. You have to win in them or they mean nothing.

We won with the black halloween unis 2 years ago, didn't seem to make them stick. I agree that you need to step out of the box occasionally. Old men like the "traditional" look, but recruits go nuts when they see something new. Kids don't give a rat's behind about keeping tradition when it comes to uniforms. That's an old man's notion.

I'm not an old man, and I like the traditional look. I just don't care to change week to week just so some punk kid will think its cool, and it doesn't guarantee jack. There are great players out there that prefer schools that are traditional. Ask Bama and LSU. I would say UGA, but they tried it and it didn't give them any benefit.

If we have to do gimmicks then we are in a worse position than we think we are.

I will admit the gray jersey pic is pretty good looking, but it keeps to tradition at the same time. The checkered shoulder pads did not catch my attention.

I don't know why everyone thought the black jerseys were so hot. Weren't they ordered last minute, and pretty much HS jerseys??? Now the Adidas version might be pretty cool, but on occasion. Once every few yrs, but not multiple times a yr. Just IMO thats all...

I like the orange pants and white jerseys look the most personally. I also wish we'd put the power T back on the top left of the pants.

Im not a young feller, but Im not exactly old either (46). I agree with you completely.

I do like traditional uniforms and I think that those traditions need to be preserved, BUT. . . sometimes you need to pull out a "Nike Pro-Combat" style uniform. Recruits like it, current players like it. But I think once a year is plenty. Keep it special.

You have one of the most recognizable uniforms in college football. When folks see the sherbert and cream (you have to forgive me, Im still am in the conversion phase) and the Power T, they know it is Tennessee. You dont want to get away from that as your everyday uniform.

But to slap on either of the two uni's that were in my previous post, and wear them for the Florida, or Bama, or even Vandy game. That would be badas$. The players would LOVE it. Keep the tradition, and add a little spice to it once in a while. Just dont become Maryland, or Oregon.

also: I am a big fan of the Pro-Combat thingy, but when Mich State revealed theirs last year, I was not a fan. I thought the gold was too far over the top. The more I saw them, the more they grew on me. But the players had a hand in designing them, and they thought they were badas$, and that is enough for me.

One game a year. And then they went out and kicked um's tail wearing them. That made them even more special.

:good!::good!:

Obviously the kids enjoy the change. If any of you think that Kiffin's guys did anything different when he showed them the black jerseys, you are burying your head in the sand.

The tradition of Orange and White would not go away with a small change or alternate jersey. It is funny that this is such a hotly debated topic.

If Tennessee were to do black uniforms again, which I could really care less what they wear as long as the win, I would want them to do something kind of like Ok St in the Fiesta Bowl.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but I think that for like just one game every few years on homecoming we could have someone design a Tennessee State Flag helmet. I know the colors would clash maybe but for that game wear our away jerseys and white pants. Just a thought maybe one of you computer freaks could shop a pic for me I would be very obliged.

some guys about crap themselves at the mere mention of an alternate uniform.

There is a pic of that style helmet floating around sonewhere.

Is there a checkerboard Helmet photoshop yet? Ive actually got a job (fwiw) and cant spend that much time searching.

That would be badas$ in a "Cant get worse than Maryland" kind of way.

oh, see. . . there are fun options out there. . . . .
