Typical arrogant post on this site. I'm pretty sure UT is no position to be talking trash about Vandy right now after they beat us by nearly 30 points last year AND beat us in recruiting. History only gets you so far.

so by that argument there should be no trash talk ever between us and other teams? Bama, Florida, etc?

And until Vandy can beat a Dooley-less coached Vol team *that same sorry coach who beat them the year before...* and out "recruit" a coach who was on the job for more than 31 days by signing a couple of more 3 star players than us, then let the trash talking commence....

UT fans simply aren't in a position of strength right now when it comes to trash talking. Stuff like that is fun when both teams are good and there are legit rivalries, but right now UT is just a joke. Hopefully not for too much longer though.

Lsu used a gold helmet and that's not one of there colors. South Carolina used a camo Jersey, Florida had a white helmet, Georgia and a chrome helmet, Kentucky has black Jerseys,Arkansas has black numbers In there Jerseys. So now say " but bama has"

Again...explain Alabama.

On top of that, explain why both teams in the NC game this year sport traditional looks that have barely changed over the year. ND had one throwback, a green jersey, and the one alternate last year that still wasn't all that different.

Notre Dames green jersey is acceptable even though green isn't anywhere in there school colors? And to say that their alternate uniform last year wasn't that different is crazy! those helmets were as far from normal as it gets.

If a throwback uniform is ok then why are people so against tennessee wearing black?

They're racist, IMO

:eek:hmy:

That black carbon fiber with orange T is bad ass!!! I'm normally a traditional guy but I could go along with that for a one-off game!

The white carbon fiber one looks pretty sweet too and its not a huge change so maybe the pure traditionalists wouldn't have a stroke over it

Did you really just say that gold is not one of LSUs colors? Their official colors are purple and gold. You keep naming all these teams, but I don't understand why we want to be like USC, Florida, Arkansas, etc. We're not them, and I'm damn proud that we aren't.

An alternative uniform doesn't make us them...its just us with a new look once in a blue moon

I'm fine with an alternative involving the school colors. I love that orange helmet that was mocked up. I just don't see the fascination of sending them out there with something that isn't the brand.

To much black
- traditionalists

When you figure out the proper usage of their, there and they're and to, two and too, then we can have an adult conversation about this topic. If you want to make this an "old vs. young" discussion, they you're going to need to use some semblance of proper grammar.

Naturally it'd have to be done correctly. However, a question. Describe what you remember seeing at your first game in attendance at Neyland.

Also aTm is a very traditional school and they wore black for one game....I think blackouts pump up the crowd and the players....not every game just on a special occasion

Well my first game was Wyoming because my family typically didn't have money for it when I was little. They wore the traditional uniforms. I like them but I liked the jerseys we wore against south Carolina in 09...rest of the uni could've been better but it made my confidence level as a fan (if that makes since) go up so I can imagine how excited it made the players.....for the record in 21 and love UTs tradition but I don't think a uni is a big deal as long as it looks good...i have no problem with orange, white, black, or grey. Nothing else

I would bet the majority of fans remember hearing and learning about the men in orange. My first was 2001 Vandy. Saw the Vol Walk, Salute to the Hill, Pregame, everything. I can't imagine my first game being the black jerseys. That's the biggest problem. You always want new/young fans/children to experience what Tennessee has meant to you, and what it is. Tennessee is orange and white. Like you, I didn't go to many games as a kid, but I learned and appreciated all that, and when I finally went to one, it was everything and more than I imagined. I know for a fact that at every game, especially now that they are bad, there are first time attendees in the stands and I'd hate for their first (and possibly only) game to be a marketing gimmick.

Folks, almost everyone is in favor of doing a throw back or new uni once a year for a special game. Almost everyone is okay with black in the uniform just like some of the early versions before they started wearing orange. We just don't want to change the school colors.

Talk to Anyone that went to the south Carolina game and they will tell you the stadium was electric and rocking

Talk to anyone who's ever been there when the stadium was REALLY rocking and they'll tell you that game against SC wasn't that loud by comparison. It was raining that night and there were plenty of empty seats. I can easily recall a dozen or more times it was MUCH louder.

Not singling you out, but was there this much demand for alternate uniforms in the 80s when they were bad? There wasn't in the 90s and much of the 2000s to wear black instead of orange. People wanted the orange and never wanted anything but.
