Vol uniform/helmet design discussion (merged)

After seeing a jersey several (hundred?) pages back, my friend RS and I hand-drew these concepts from a blank template using Sharpies. Of course, they aren't very well-done, but if CleVOLander or someone else could Photoshop this into a proper concept jersey, we would greatly appreciate it!

The idea was to have the jersey be a Big Orange Power T surrounded by white (or possibly very light grey). Normal helmets and white pants.

We debated whether or not to have a black outline or not, so we made one with and one without.

Hope y'all enjoy em!

These were among the first I put up here:

So similar in concept, I can easily add to the shoulders and sides of the Power T, and adding in our usual suspects for the other areas: helmet, shoes, pants, etc.

I can probably get this mocked up quicker than the checkerboard ones at this point since I can use my old stuff and just add to it.

I like what you did here, it took me a second to see it. I think #'s would need to be black though.

That's another thing, the numbers have to be of a certain minial size and location, that's why I had to add numbers to the front of one of the throwback concepts I did, which through off the T across the chest and had to be made smaller than the original... I recall someone a few pages back talking about that one.

I think there is an NCAA rule against this style, apparently they hate awesome.

When you figure out the proper usage of their, there and they're and to, two and too, then we can have an adult conversation about this topic. If you want to make this an "old vs. young" discussion, they you're going to need to use some semblance of proper grammar.

.......

DP are the gloves and undershirts and such going to be the same this year? i vaguely remember you saying the cleats would be the same ADZeros?

I don't think they've been selected. UT will get whatever models are the latest releases, as all of their top-tier schools do.

The gloves and undershirts will change every year.

Notice how uniforms at the turn of the 20th century used grey! Those of you who are wanting to stick with tradition might take this into consideration.

I laughed.

It's been discussed at length already. Almost all teams around the turn of the 20th century used neutral colors for their uniforms as opposed to the actual school colors. It was nothing more than the fact that those colors of fabric were cheaper and easier to attain. If people like black or gray so much and want to add one or both of them as one of our school colors, then so be it. As long as the school colors are orange and white though, I feel that's what colors our football team should wear when representing the school.

Cool concept. Nicely done.

I love the all orange, but still would like to see something different. The more modern the uni's are the better it will be for recruiting. And remember what happened last time we changed uni's. they will play better if they look bada**.

If you could do that, I would love to see how it'd look!

I had a thought: what if we added a smaller, white power T (around superman logo location) on the front like Michigan's and Nebraska's alternates with the "M" and "N" on the front. Then have the numbers and names in white on the back and have the whole back of the jersey be orange.

I added numbers across the chest and shoulders. I think there is a rule about jerseys needing the numbers on both the front and back nowadays. So I did orange numbers trimmed in white on the shoulders to blend more into the T.

CleVOLander, when you have the time, would you be so kind as to how mock up a combination of the following: (1) the road jersey worn during the Shuler era (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IorWZN9usG0); (2) the orange pants illustrated in shelbyvillevol's post above (no. 11587); and (3) some of the orange helmets you have already produced (no use of black as an accent, however)?

I'll make it so.

We beat an average SC team? We need new uniforms for that?

I'm going to keep saying it....Alabama.

Fulmer allowed special uniforms. the team approached Kiffin about special uniforms. the team approached Dooley about special uniforms. the team will probably approach Jones about special uniforms. shouldn't this be more important than what some fan's want or think is best for the program?

Do what? Fulmer allowed ONE special uniform once in 2004. He allowed the orange pants to only be worn 3 times in his entire coaching career, and we wore the new side stripe uniforms in 2002 until the Miami game when the home uniforms went back to the old ones.

If anything Fulmer would be who new uniform people would hate, he basically had 1 home and 1 road uniform for 16 years, and I gurantee if he had been rehired, it would go back to that.

He would've, most likely, brought back the all-white that so many are begging for.

What if the numbers where just outlined in black or some color that's not orange or white so that you don't have to take orange away from the power T. So you would have the original jersey drawn with just black outlined numbers.

I had thought of that, to where it is more or less a "clear" number outlined in black so as to show the numbers but allow for the jerseys Power T design to show through, but didn't know if that was allowed by the NCAA and don't recall ever seeing such a thing on a jersey.
