So representatives of our school should not wear our school color because you think another color looks better? Got it. And I'm the crazy one.

no the powers that be need to worry about the program they ran into the ground and not trying to manufacture a "sea of orange." black is an in style color for clothes now, but some old idiots in the AD think taking away a popular color will have a positive effect. <- lol i love our school color and i love our tradition and our uniforms, btw.

Fulmer allowed special uniforms. the team approached Kiffin about special uniforms. the team approached Dooley about special uniforms. the team will probably approach Jones about special uniforms. shouldn't this be more important than what some fan's want or think is best for the program?

The program is bigger than any player or group of players. Slight changes like they've had over the years is fine. No problem with the losing and bringing back of the double orange stripe and the orange pants. While I favor the orange pants a lot, if they decided to go back to white on the road, I'd be ok, because it is one of the official colors. If they did a pro-combat style, I'd hope they'd go Florida's route and keep the colors, just a new style.

Not singling you out, but was there this much demand for alternate uniforms in the 80s when they were bad? There wasn't in the 90s and much of the 2000s to wear black instead of orange. People wanted the orange and never wanted anything but.

No there wasn't, but for the most part we didn't have much information about the uniform contract so it wasn't an issue. We wore orange or white t-shirts, polos or jerseys to the games. No one really wore anything else except some of the older Vols who may have worn a blazer and orange shirt. Obviously, when it was cold there were other colors as most of us did not own an orange winter coat, though some did. Oh, by the way, coaches often wore orange pants in those days, but they wore matching belts and shoes.

By the way, not that anyone cares, but that blonde in the lower left hand corner wearing the 'Big Orange Blouse' is none other than Denise Conrad Bates, wife of Bill and 1981 Homecoming Queen. Don't ask how I remember that, I just do.

When you figure out the proper usage of their, there and they're and to, two and too, then we can have an adult conversation about this topic. If you want to make this an "old vs. young" discussion, they you're going to need to use some semblance of proper grammar.

Stop being a snob. You know what he meant.

I've been a fan since the Notre Dame comeback game with Andy Kelly. 93 or 94, I think? I've been reading TOS until a few weeks ago when I found this site ( way better IMO, not near as many negavols) but have never posted. Anyway, I just don't see what the big deal is about changing the unis on occasion. It's fun and exciting and evidently the kids love it. However, seems pretty silly to think it has had any outcome on where our program is. IIRC, the South Carolina game in 09 was on Halloween. That sounds like a perfect time for the black unis or something totally out of the norm

I would bet the majority of fans remember hearing and learning about the men in orange. My first was 2001 Vandy. Saw the Vol Walk, Salute to the Hill, Pregame, everything. I can't imagine my first game being the black jerseys. That's the biggest problem. You always want new/young fans/children to experience what Tennessee has meant to you, and what it is. Tennessee is orange and white. Like you, I didn't go to many games as a kid, but I learned and appreciated all that, and when I finally went to one, it was everything and more than I imagined. I know for a fact that at every game, especially now that they are bad, there are first time attendees in the stands and I'd hate for their first (and possibly only) game to be a marketing gimmick.

I can see what you're saying but I like to look at it the other way too.....it would be cool to be there one of the few time they wore something different too......but in all honesty if they made the subtle change to the helmets where they have a checkerboard stripe and orange facemask I probably would be satisfied with that on a more typical basis....not over the top but still cool

The people that ran our program into the ground don't work here anymore. There's been almost a complete turnover among senior staff in the last two years, including the AD, in case you didn't notice...

Why is it nonsense for our AD to want our players and coaches to wear the school color?

They didn't "pull all of the black," they just made less of it available, wanting to return Neyland Stadium and other facilities to the sea of orange they once were.

Neyland is magnificent in Tennessee Orange. All of the black apparel makes it look like just another college stadium.

After seeing a jersey several (hundred?) pages back, my friend RS and I hand-drew these concepts from a blank template using Sharpies. Of course, they aren't very well-done, but if CleVOLander or someone else could Photoshop this into a proper concept jersey, we would greatly appreciate it!

The idea was to have the jersey be a Big Orange Power T surrounded by white (or possibly very light grey). Normal helmets and white pants.

We debated whether or not to have a black outline or not, so we made one with and one without.

Hope y'all enjoy em!

Terrible but I like your drawings make some more maybe do a checkerboard one.
I'd love to see what you come up with

I like what you did here, it took me a second to see it. I think #'s would need to be black though.

Those orange paints match the jersey better than Dooley's did. I also like the grey face mask. I guess I'm old fashioned.

i noticed that they made another bargain bin hire, which tells me the problem goes deeper than the AD, but back to uniforms..
