Vols at #5 CFP tonight? Nope, they're #7

Bama lost two games by a total of 3 points
We lost two games by a total of 39. Our star qb out we would of lost probably 5 games . Right now we wouldn't beat Bama or any other team in front of us.

Your last sentence is conjecture. Your other points are the problem. So wins don’t really matter. Only losses. This is where the CFP are severely flawed.

You needed to at least put up a fight against georgia if you wanted make a case. You didn't even show up. You didn't even get off the bus.

The committee is LICKING THIER CHOPS for an OSU/Michigan rematch. They are hoping against hope. Alabama has had them paid off for years. You had to give them SOMETHING against georgia. Instead, you were caught on the toilet with your pants down.
That’s really not true. A huge missed TD pass to Hyatt that would’ve changed the complexion of the game, followed by a fluke 90 yard punt that directly led to a UGA TD put that one out of reach. Things could easily have gone a lot different. Playing from behind against the nation’s best defense on the road is not going to work out well for us.

What happens iif you play alabama in a bowl in a revenge game? hmm?

What happens if you play OSU and get your clocks cleaned because OSU got EMBARRASSED?

You better show up.

Maybe because Tennessee is still 10-2 and not 8-4

I’m not even sure the question really. Doesn’t make sense.

Tennessee lost bad, they lost their QB one of the best in the country. Tennessee then played and destroyed Vandy……….why would anyone think Tennessee would jump Bama after a Vandy win?
Bama beat Auburn. That ain't no big whoop either

I really think if TN had won out and the chalk holds this weekend, a 1-loss Pac 12 Champion would have jumped us for the 4th spot. That's the only consolation I have been able to talk myself into as I dealt with the grief of SC lol.

They would have ranked wins over #15 Oregon State (9-3), #17 UCLA (9-3), #21 Notre Dame (8-4), and #11 Utah (9-3)... a Pac12 championship and only one loss by one point to #11.

Vols would have had* ranked wins over #6 Alabama and #14 LSU and no conference Championship. Imagine the meltdown we would have if we were jumped in the last week.

What was the score in our game against UGA genius?

Yep. Bama lost to all the good teams they played. The only reason they are comparable to us is that they didn’t have to play Georgia. That and officiating bailed them out against their two Texas opponents.

How many years have we had 3 teams that haven't lost at this point? Glad it's going to a 12 team playoff. College football needs it.
We'll get Gump EVERY year that way. Awesome.

Conference champions only or it's still horseshit

How many spots should we drop because Hyatt and a few others may not play in the bowl game? Whatever you say, it's crap. Tennessee beat Bama head to head and we should be ranked higher than them. If not, then the polls are not based on results.

We will never know.

Given we know what the criteria is for selecting teams we absolutely should have jumped Bama. Bama has zero quality wins. And in CF wins is what matters. Do you honestly think OSU would just completely drop out if Stroud was hurt? No they wouldn’t. We are getting screwed plain and simple. It’s Bama bias.

Why shouldn’t us and Washington be ranked above Bama? We both have much better wins. It’s politics and bias. Nothing else.

fairly confident that wasn’t my only reasoning.

Tennessee was behind Bama. Tennessee played and destroyed Vandy. Bama beat Auburn by 22. No one (voting) is going to bump Tennessee simply because they beat Vandy.

Your also providing a false argument. No one knows what “would” happen if that something didn’t happen.

Remember…….Tennessee didn’t get “completely dropped” because they lost Hooker.

They got dropped because of the SC game. Pretty hard to come back within 1 week, when you lost one of the best players in college football and you only played Vandy.

The argument “has” to be Tennessee should have been ahead of Bama to begin with.

So some now we know that quality wins don’t matter. I think we should officially drop the yearly Bama game. We should take the Michigan approach. Play one or two decent games and that’s it.

Meh. Seems like 4 is going to be more than enough, really. All the anger is over who gets to be #4, because there are a lot of teams in that tier just below championship worthy. The same problems will arise with 12 teams, just complaints over seeding and who gets left out lower on the food chain.

Because Vandy had beat Kentucky and Florida one could say our win over Vandy was better than Bama's win over Auburn.

So again the only thing that matters is losses and not wins. That’s flawed. Yet SC then turns around and beats a top 10 Clemson. Was that loss as bad as it originally thought? No. So essentially punish a team for a bad loss and don’t reward them for great wins. That makes total sense.
