Vols Favored Big vs USCe -- How?

IMO Herring is further along than the other two. I’m afraid Legette will eliminate bringing a safety up to help out with rattler.I think we need to get pressure up the middle and not let our edge guys pin their ears back rather use them more for outside containment. If we can push the pocket and contain Rattler from making plays on the run ( which he’s very good at) I like our chances. Of course we got to stop the run and make open field tackles or it’s going to be a long day. I hope Beasley is alright.
Something happen to Beasley Saturday?

I hear a lot of talk on here about how weak SCar is so is anyone on volnation actually going to put money on Tennessee with this point spread?
I like our chances to win but that is a lot of points considering how inconsistent we seem to be so far.

Regardless what the experts on here think I thought the Starters in the secondary played solid Saturday. Hence “Starters”…. We played a lot of backups in 2nd half….our young LB’s were lost several times.
Not sure if Beasley even played 2nd half.
Getting out of position eliminates talent!
Herring took a step, I thought.

Looking back at last years game it was really a crazy game.
Last years game was SC best and they were prepared for us. They could have beaten Bama that night and maybe even Georgia.

They controlled the clock for 39 minutes of the 60. We can’t let that happen again, only having the ball 21 minutes or 1/3 of the game did not give us much of a chance. They ran the ball 10 plays more than we did, don’t think they can do that this year.

Their run defense is weak and our run offense is strong so let’s attack it and keep the ball out of Spencer’s hand. I think we run, run, and run some more. Small and Sampson should both get over 100 yards each, and even Milton should get another 50.

I think to win the game we need 250 yards rushing, unless Milton is passing lot better than last week. We need this game!
South Carolina will score, I saw a prediction of 45/24 Vols, that is about the way I see it.

I usually take the 1st quarter spreads and totals with the Vols. Last year was very good, and I will take Vols -3.5 1st quarter over USC and I think it will be easy money. We are a good football team that is not playing well. When we put it all together, some team is gonna get wrecked...I hope it is Saturday

Bru and Wright were both MIA midway through the 2nd quarter as well.

USCjr. won by 25 last year
Rattler rattled our brains
Defense was lethargic
Blunder of a game
This year Beamer and company led the puppydogs at half
Confidence is growing over there
They riding high in Columbia
Beamer feeling confident
Doesn't matter

We need to stop their run, that will be the key to the game. They moved the ball a lot against Miss State and even scored on Georgia so that has me concerned.

Nope. Best take SC. They play the same defensive "flavor" that Florida used to destroy the offense.

Florida played defense with their offense and that is the secret against Tennessee. Don't let Tennessee's offense on the field by taking advantage of our garbage defense to run clock. Then by the time our offense gets the ball, they are not crisp. If you let Tennessee's offense get the ball often, we will get hot and pour on the points. If you sustain long drives and keep it out of the hands of the offense, they won't play crisp. This even worked some last year.

Maybe I am just an old man yelling at a cloud but I think the whole "vols by fiddy" is so dumb.

The happens when you don't get off the field by allowing one 3rd down completion after another. We MUST have better 3rd down defense to win this game.

Makes me feel like we shouldn't be intimidated.
We need to show em who we are and what we are capable of.

USC is hard to figure. The MSU team that gained 200 yards against LSU gained over 500 yards against USC. Additionally, USC is not a great rushing team. They had -2 yards rushing against UNC. Some of that is due to giving up 9 sacks. They have Oline problems similar to ours. USC does have a good passing game that is mainly Rattler running around and finding an open receiver. Legette is a big good WR. He will give us problems.

So I guess what I’m saying is who knows.

It will move throughout the week, but I'd say the fact that we haven't lost in Neyland in nearly two years, things looked quite a bit better with Sampson, possibly getting your starting center back, and USCjr's offensive line is pretty bad. HOPEFULLY our DLine and backers will match up well in that regard and not give Rattler much of a chance for big passes. Plus, like others have said, we aren't nearly as bad as some of our fans think that we are.

I think that is crazy. Tennessee held the ball for 22 minutes. That's an eternity to the offense CJH runs. They did it by abusing the WRs at the line and pressure on the line. Same thing Georgia did last year, the same thing USC did, the same thing Florida's defense did, and USC will try the same thing again. Strong corners that don't let receivers release and an attacking line has beaten this team three times. Any team with bullying corners and a respectable line appears to be a problem.

Commonly seen against Tennessee
1. Beat up the WR's and and have the line control the QB
2. Try to control the clock and not allow anything deep
3. Shootout

I have only seen number one beat Tennessee since the "on-switch" was hit.

A home night game against a 1 dimensional team. A lot of people probably see this as a "get right" game for the Vols, I do not.

Defensively, the game plan is pretty simple. It should be pretty similar to what Florida did to us. If you can slow down or negate Rattler they have nothing.
