Meh, I don't really care about the PPG. Wins are the only thing that matter. He can have low PPG and high time of possession and I'm fine with it. Obviously we're not going to agree. Chaney has been hired by four SEC coaches (Dooley actually retained him so not sure how you'd want to count that) so he's pretty highly thought of and knows the conference. He also has some experience working with younger QB and helping them out along with the Oline experience. I guess I could see him being a mediocre hire but he's a pretty proven commodity and I think most would trade Helton for Chaney.

Yup, and we've recruites great along the OL this year, so not concerned. Both are elite coaches. I would most love to get Pittman to subtract him from UGA.

You aren't educating anyone. I never said DT was here in 2013. He was here for Chaney's last year, 2012. My POINT WAS CHANEY only had one OL go in the first seven rounds of the NFL the whole time Chaney was here. My main point was Chaney did a great job considering UT wasn't stacked with 4/5 star OL's due to Fulmer, Kiffin, and especially Dooley not recruiting any to help the OL that Chaney had when OC at UT!!!

Trust us. Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until it’s gone. We have missed Chaney at Tennessee and UGA didn’t get where they are the last 2 years without him.

This^^^^ ... a million times over. His comment that the end goal is putting up points is kinda dumb. Winning is the end goal and doing what is game appropriate to achieve that is what matters. Obviously, the quality of the competition plays a key role in any statistical category. Houston and Central Florida scored more points per game this season than Georgia.... that in no way means that they were the better offense.

...and by the way, Coley was NOT your OC. Jim Chaney called the plays.

Yeah it's undoubtedly a good trade. Also like his possibility for stability. Don't have to worry about him hopping elsewhere. Clemson showed last night how important that is.

The truth is you can have Chaney. He is OK, but he is very predictable. He has a ceiling that is top 20, but he is not creative enough to be elite. He mistakes gimmick for creative. He cannot compete with the more innovative DCs. LSU’s DC out schemed him badly, and he admitted it.

If we lost Pittman, that would be crushing. I am happy to see Chaney go. He will help your team, but he has a ceiling against elite defenses. Good luck, except when you play UGA.

Chaney leaves a Georgia team that’s under the trees liking its wounds. While Tennessee is in the think tank creating something new! One is on the upward swing the other is scrambling.
