Vols hold players only meeting

For those of you losing you minds about the players only meeting, please feel free to look up the comments from Omari Thomas he gave just a short time ago. Not anything close to what you are feeling.

To be honest, I have never really tried. Though is is on YouTube. I will try to post the link. Most of the panicked ones will feel a bit silly after they listen.

Honestly though, I did not and still don't get the concern. I would expect these players talk to each other all the time.

This sounded like more of a "lets remain focused" discussion. I'm sure they try to avoid social media, but it is probably hard to do, and some fans have completely gone sideways after the game last Saturday.

The team was embarrassed by the product they put on the field. This meeting was a great opportunity for the team to refocus and emphasize the importance of coming to work EVERY day. I am looking for our young men to show up Saturday with renewed focus and the competitive fire to cook those gaters.

Listening to a segment by Dave Hooker this morning, they discussed that the football program held a players only meeting on Sunday that was spearheaded by the leadership on the team.

Apparently JM3 took responsibility for the dropped passes in a positive light, no pointing fingers, and all players have agreed its time to amp it up to a whole new level, as they admitted this past week was pretty laid back.

Hopefully this refocuses the team and they get back to keeping their heads on straight. I do believe this is a positive and shows the true leadership the team possesses.
I'm happy they did this. Better now than later in the season IMO.

I grinned at Thomas repeatedly saying "going out there in the game and having fun" because games may be much easier than practicing under Rodney Garner.

As for the players only meeting, Thomas is a survivor of the Pruitt chaos. He knows what a team in bad shape looks like and feels like.

I saw no sense of hesitation in his voice to talk about the meeting, the unity, the need to keep focus, and the leadership on the team. He didn't seem stressed by the question.

It occurs that the players knew there'd be some "what's going on with this team?" after the APSU game and the leaders wanted to say, in his words, "let's flush that game and move on."

I'm with Omari, let's flush that game and move on.

Josh Heupel’s crush with Milton has me concerned…It took an injury in 2022 before he was forced to play one of the greatest players in UT history.
I recommend that you smoke the crow you are gonna be eating over hickory on Saturday evening.

Say what you want about Milton, but the one thing he’s proven is he is a great teammate. He took getting replaced by Hooker with grace and continued to support his teammates. I’m sure he owned up to some of his passes, and handled the drops by the receivers professionally. It’s a good sign they’re meeting about this
Being a great teammate isn’t the problem . Nobody hates the guy , the problem is he hasn’t developed into what TN needs . He isn’t gonna take the Vols to the next level. I’ll eat my words , gladly , if he proves me wrong . I think everyone in Vol country likes the guy and rooting for him , but there’s a huge question mark that comes along with him.

Players only meetings are a cause for great concern! It says the locker room is not happy and spells trouble especially just after the season starts.
Relax, nothing of the sort in this instance, from what I am hearing. In fact, just the opposite - they need to focus on this upcoming SEC slate, and leadership knows this.
Let’s hope they all have renewed focus, which is what I fully expect. That is, to go down to Gainesville and open a can. Bottom line, if we play good solid football, and re-establish the line of scrimmage @ the snap, we will be fine. If we have issues, it will be close.

Those hoping JM will play as good as Hooker did the last few seasons are expecting too much from him IMO. If our defense is as improved as I think it is, I think we have a chance to recompense the drop in QB play and still have a chance to have a season similar to last year.

I can tell when the kids are not taking it seriously. It starts with JM3. Always dancing in warm ups. I get the excitement of being a starter but humble yourself and take everyday like it’s business and your last. Secondly, I have no idea how many players I counted with their pant belts strap hanging and not strapped up. Was pretty hard to not notice quite Frank. Tighten those belts up and be professional, just because it’s 2023, does not mean we shouldn’t act like grown ass men. I believe this team can get it done. Just come in and take care of business. GBO

IT would be nice to see the defense have a alot of FUN in the FLA backfield and slinging Mertz into that crocodile infested field come saturday night. I still don't believe that the defense as a whole has played it's best came yet even since last year and would love to see that Dline snagging the teeth outta some CROCS come saturday night! 'how sweet" it could be..

Either Milton has a better game or he will be replaced for the 2nd time. I have full trust in CJH to make the decision.
