Vols hold players only meeting

Lets just forget about the game with Pee................put it aside and let the team take their frustrations out on the Gators this coming Saturday................All is well with our Vols and , we all have had bad games in the past. By our actions, and play ,this coming Saturday I pray that our Vols will tell the Gator faithful we are back as one team and we intend to proved it in Gainesville !!!!!

I love this, the standard is different in that locker room compared to years past. They know how they’ve played the last two games. I expect a sharp and focused team Saturday.

The weenies nervous about this happening MuH tWo GaMeS iNtO tHe SeAsOn So DiScOnCeRtInG would I guess rather have it happen after we get blown out by UTSA or something. It's like they've never been on an actual athletic team in their whole life.

Just saying, I've seen these things IRL. If they come off as preachy or aloof, then there is no faster way to destroy a locker room. BUT, if the leaders are respected, accept responsibility, and ask everyone to step it up a notch with a clean slate, you can create some magic.
Yes. Just saying that it CAN go two ways. Again, lets point out a negative take just so we all know it can happen. Want to remind you all if someone gives you a brand new $100 bill it may have a crease in it.( I don't blue font y'all)

Not really a good or a bad thing ..... really depends on how the players respond to each other ..... I commend the idea of the meeting, it means that they understand that there is an issue ..#GOVOLS!

Say what you want about Milton, but the one thing he’s proven is he is a great teammate. He took getting replaced by Hooker with grace and continued to support his teammates. I’m sure he owned up to some of his passes, and handled the drops by the receivers professionally. It’s a good sign they’re meeting about this
Milton seems like a top notch guy and a genuine leader. To me, our success this year will need to come from just being a better team. Better D, better running game, etc to support what is a fall off @ QB and WR abilities. We can still be a good passing team while maybe not the level of LY. Every season is different and I just think if we establish our identity of being a really sound D team who runs the ball...AND, Milton stays efficient on short routes and we can hit a few gash plays per game to keep folks honest, I think that's our path to being relevant this year. We don't appear to be a team who can make a ton of mistakes like we did against AP and expect to roll thru SEC schedule.

If reports are true about Milton's comments, I can see why it created some friction with his receivers especially if he's a bit off with his accuracy like he was saturday. Time will tell if his mea culpa will heal things. I'm sure he's feeling some pressure after his last outing. Combine that with his comments about not losing in Florida, and I expect Milton is feeling a considerable amount of pressure going into this one. Heupel and co will have a helluva time keeping things light and trying to keep Milton from being too worked up going into this one. Hope he can handle this pressure and this stage well. Feel for the guy. Games like this are supposed to be fun. Having all this additional chit to deal with just stinks.
Appreciate your thoughts my friend

Not this crap. Players only meetings mean there is drama. I DON'T CARE WHO IS INVOLVED, GET THOSE INVOLVED IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL NOW. This never goes well. If this is true, which I hope its not, don't expect much this season.

Yep.

Tell the entire offense to take a hike and good luck in the portal.

Can't be having 12 missed passes against Austin freakin Peay.

What comments?

I think they were looking ahead to florida, wanted to get the w playing vanilla, also taking leadership can be good for a team, we have great culture

I remember those players-only meetings. They carry more weight than coaches-led meetings. Holding each other accountable and expressing the expectations going forward. I am glad to hear Joe had that attitude. I would expect nothing less from him. He is the leader without a doubt. That is something many on here seem to overlook or not place stock in. It is extremely important. I feel much better after hearing this news. Now
go stomp the Gators in the swamp. GO VOLS!!!!!!!!

Lol, yeah somebody is certainly dramatic, you’re right about that. 🙄

Listening to a segment by Dave Hooker this morning, they discussed that the football program held a players only meeting on Sunday that was spearheaded by the leadership on the team.

Apparently JM3 took responsibility for the dropped passes in a positive light, no pointing fingers, and all players have agreed its time to amp it up to a whole new level, as they admitted this past week was pretty laid back.

Hopefully this refocuses the team and they get back to keeping their heads on straight. I do believe this is a positive and shows the true leadership the team possesses.
All the players only meetings in the world doesn't make your throw it better or catch it better. I mean it hasn't been for lack of effort.

I’ve never been a Milton guy, but one thing I can say is he remains fairly cool under pressure. The pressure of Saturday is the least of my worries when it comes to him.

If that is the case, he will be busy:

The dog Smokey was not at the game

The mascot Smokey was in the end zone during a time out beating up on a blow up alligator when Austin Peay was on the 10 yard line getting ready to score

The checkerboard in the end zone looked like it had not been painted since the Orange White game

The concession stands, at least at section ZZ13, ran out of food and ice in the second quarter

The water fountains, at least at section ZZ13, were filthy (not an exaggeration) and did not work.

I hope he spends more time on this kind of stuff rather than one of 120 players talking to a reporter.

Funny you posted this because when I read his comment I had a similar thought in that I highly doubt the AD gives that much attention to who players talk to. Feels like he has more matters to attend to…
