6/20 Wrap up...
The Vols got off to a slow start this evening...It didn't look like it was gonna be much of a night. The feeds were in and out, seems like such a simple thing, but it really does make things harder than it needs to be. Houser and Lance stats have been provided, but I need to check them tomorrow, but that's the gist of it. VJax got pulled with no outs and runners on 1 and 2, made me sad. Robbie Kidd had a rough night, again those stats are in the thread. So, what's not?
Trevor Charpie came into the game in the top of the 9th with quite the security blanket, the Big Train leading 11-1. He gave up 3 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned, hit a batter and got no K's. The Big Train won 11-5.
Between the SLO Blues and the Conejo Oaks the Vols have 5 players, none got a start and just as I was about to give up...Owenby came into the game in the 8th for the Blues who had an 11-6 lead. Check this OUT! He pitched 2 innings, gave up no hits, no runs, no walks and....STRUCK OUT 6!
The Matsu Miners went into extra innings for the second night in a row. Before I get to the Miners, I want to tell you about Jeff Moberg. I was listening to Moberg's Glacier Pilots and watching the Matsu Miners at the same time, TRY that some time. Moberg's game was a 0-0 tie after four and he struck out and flew out his first two at bats. Moby ended up going 3 for 5, with a run and a single and he made 4 great assists and stole a base. The Pilots won 5-0.
As for the Miners, it was a one to nothing game in favor of the Miners until the 7th inning. Then it got tied up 1-1, and while the pitching for the Miners (sorry, no Vols tonight) is really to be praised, Simcox rose to the occasion. He went 3 for 5 including a lead off single in the 11th, and he scored the winning run. On the down side Christin Stewart went 0/4, but the Miners win 2-1 in extra innings!
Maddox didn't not get the start tonight, he's with USA Baseball, so wanted to correct that and thanks to BaseVol, who pointed it out. Guess I'll go see who who won the NBA Finals now. GBO!
