Vote by mail

So the method you’ve outlined in OR points out that apparently ballots are mailed out automatically to all eligible voters. Is that ALL voters or is there some other qualifier? And why are important things like ballots just mailed without making the voter request them?

All registered voters receive vote by mail ballots. It's a service and save money and it's efficient.

2002 was the last win by a Republican in a statewide election.

Since 1984 Oregon Republican Senators have served 33 years in the US Senate while Democratic Senators have served 32 years.

18 years since they win a statewide election. And wasn't it around 2000 that it went to basically 💯 vote by mail? Thanks for proving my point.

I don't think that's what I said, I think checks and balances should be on both. I do believe that when it comes to weapons that training and background checks should be involved simply because of the lethal nature of a weapon.

Why is it that people want to turn a thread about voting into a thread about guns?

It's about voter ID. And where voter ID is not mandated Dems win elections

What is this point you are making? Ever consider the quality of candidates? Changing demographics? etc.

I certainly didn't ignore appropriate voter registration requirements. What do you think I missed?

And on your topic, are you saying people shouldn't have to have a background check or appropriate training as to how to safely use a gun?

I live in a reasonably nice neighborhood (home prices range from $575,000 to about $1,400,000), we have CCRs to protect our neighborhood and our investment. Last summer while I was on a golfing trip, my wife reported a neighbor for violations of the CCRs related to parking violations. The city came out and warned him and told him to fix the problem or he'd receive a ticket. His place looked more like a used car lot than a residence. The next day the city came by and checked on the problem. They gave him a $25 ticket. He went ballistic threatened the enforcement officer and then came after my wife. Scared the hell out of her,, broke my doorbell (brand new by the way I put it in 2 weeks before my trip). She ran in the house, locked the doors, and got her pepper spray. The officer called my wife and told her he wouldn't go back to that residence without being armed. And he told my wife to call the police if he came on our property.

Net result I started looking for a gun for my wife. I found the M&P 380 Shield EZ priced at $400 including training and 4 yr permit is $65. So it's quite inexpensive to own a gun. Amo seems to be the spendy part.

My granddaughter has a CCP, my nephew sells automatic weapons so I'm not immune to the realities of gun ownership.
I view mass mailings of ballots without a request from the voter for the ballot as indeed a point that needs to be reeled in and yes you’ve blown by that at three times now.

Your neighbor sounds like an *******. Not sure why his actions are related to voting or gun regulation

Yea thought he'd be a good neighbor when I bought my house 4 1/2 years ago. We'd gone to the same high school, he knew my sister that was a year older than him, my boss had funded a chair at the private Lutheran Univ that his daughter was attending, he's a vet..... But he's a slob, his place just looks junky. I planted a hedge to block the view of his yard. Tried to be nice. Then he just kept ignoring requests to perhaps clean the place up. He's one of these guys who doesn't think rules apply to him.

Anyway he's moved out and his place is on the market now. So hopefully we'll get a "new and improved" neighbor.

As for mailing out ballots, I'm just telling you how it's done here. Other states that choose to can do it anyway they want. In my opinion, I can't imagine why it's not a national thing. Certainly, no reason a state can't require a voter ID to qualify for vote by mail.

The only trends I've seen on here are that it seems Republicans are afraid that vote by mail will damage their political control. That to me is un-American.

So you don't disagree that the Dem stronghold on Oregon happened at or around the time of vote by mail?

Not really, it's more about demographic changes in Oregon. At least that's my opinion. The Portland Metro area has increased by about 500,00 since 2000. This tends to be a more democratic part of the state. The rural areas tend to be more Republican. So I think it's more to do with population shift and demographics

every signature is electronically verified before the vote is counted so even if a ballot was sent to a deceased person, someone would have to be able to forge the signature to match the signature on file with voter registration. That's not easy to do
Yes it is.

I may or may not have forged my boss's signature with his knowledge and permission. When he saw the result he couldnt tell the difference. Took about 15 minutes of practice.

And for the record the forged signature I may or may not have signed never got sent in due to some clerical issues.

Agree to disagree. Oregon is another failure of a couple of counties. Portland what an absolute 💩 hole. Nike what a disgrace to humanity profiting at an obscene level of money off of children workers. I'm sure there are some beautiful places out there but Oregon could become part of Canada and no one would miss it.

Sanctuary state?

I believe Vote by mail in Oregon was introduced in the early 80's and it's no coincidence that a republican presidential nominee has not won that State since 1984. Not being from Oregon I would ask when was the last time a republican won a statewide election in that state.
Liberal and white AF.

Ya know, I first got on this website back about the time Tenn was getting ready to come to Eugene for a football game. Tenn has great fans and I tried to share info that would make the trip more enjoyable. Not just football, places to visit, places to stay, ways to get to the game efficiently etc. And we had a great time with the great Tenn fans. The main reason I've hung around on this board is because of the quality of the Tenn fans.

When someone such as yourself starts trashing another part of the country, a part you admit that you've never visited, you sir are a disappointment compared to the great Tenn fans I've enjoyed over the years.

Oregon is beautiful, particularly the coast.

Oregon has several beautiful areas, but the fact that Portland has become a breeding ground for anarchists like ANTIFA who are allowed by police/mayor to disrupt and assault people is disturbing. Have liberal views is one thing, actively encouraging violence and anarchy as "tolerance" is another

Oregon is a beautiful state with great people. I wouldn't fit in with the direction the state has taken politically but like CA take the politics out and I would love to live in northern CA or coastal OR.

I said Oregon is a 💩 hole of probably 2 counties. Are you trying to tell me (although never visited) Portland is not a 💩hole? I have no idea why we ever played Oregon. Teams usually play where they recruit. If Oregon wants to continue to do hard left then have at it. But don't think the rest of the country is going to hop on board with the nonsense that comes with voter fraud.

There in lies the problem , you can’t take the politics out because it’s who they are . They are a breed apart for sure .
