VP debate 2024

Historically the VP is a non factor in gaining votes for the ticket.

Are yall thinking it is different this year?
I think it will as the other poster stated..Vance is not Pence...Vance is younger and seems to be eqger to do more while Pence was a career politician just taking the next advancement place.

I’m just saying I’ve had comments removed so I’m on my best behavior 😇 I didn’t say anything about her haircut telling the whole story 😂 she’s such a visual caricature I can’t take anything she says seriously 😂
Don’t let that scare ya. You gotta say a lot of things that are really bad to get banned. The occasional removal of a post is just building your brand! Carry on, full throttle. All or nuthin’!

Have to admit I didn't see one second of the debate.

But Vance did seem to have a head on his shoulders when he said.......
"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical ******* like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler,"
The other day Lg said that folks calling him Hitler is Hyperbole. Is that what you are doing?

With independent voters in swing states, Vance is generally seen as unlikeable. The cat lady comments, Springfield, etc are largely seen as negatives by the voting bloc that will devide this election.

The R base likes him and he did decent (but not great) last night. But the R base was voting for Trump no matter the VP pick...

He appeals to the rural R state voter, which was highly in Trump's favor to begin with.

The Ds made a mistake not going after Shapiro.

You're basically arguing independents might be airheads. Anybody watching Walz stumbling through the debate last night lying and looking uncouth while Vance put on a substantive master class can't be serious people. I hope voters are smarter than you give them credit.

But he is able to connect with a much larger audience that most Republicans. I think Vance will be the best communicator the Republicans have had since Reagan. Don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good.
You may feel the coach started the wrong QB in the big game; but when you win at the end; you no longer find it important

We lose regardless

You would think candidates could read the room better and stay 1,000 miles away from comments like that. Especially when an election that could be won by razor thin margins, you have to be more aware of making stupid missteps. They already have their base, so why in their mind would it be a good idea to go there?

Bottom line. Trump supporters feel Vance was overwhelming winner

Harris supporter see it just the opposite
I don't think it really matters. Unlike some of our friends here, I don't think a defeat or victory of VP debate makes a difference in the election.

With that said, much of the media and D operatives have communicated that Vance was better in the debate.

If Vance's performance changes just 1% of undecided voters.. That could be the election

80 of the electorate votes for a R or D automatically. They vote for a letter or how a message is being presented without any thought. How many Trump voters know he deported fewer than Obama, that he made essentially socialistic farmers due to tariffs, or that Trump spent in a way that would make FDR blush.

Look at our choices. We have idiots all over the political spectrum...

People vote for what they identify with. Rs like the tenor of Trump's message even if it deviates with reality, Ds vote for a message with free stuff that isnt free. Much like Trump, Vance would rather speak to base than to the voters that will decide it....

You saw something different in the debate than I did. For instance,Vance explanation on abortion was threading the needle with those independents. For your argument they focused the debate on 80% there is a counter argument the debate was focused on the few undecided voters on the fence.

Congress is who spends the money. Trump saves me thousands every month with his tax cuts and his gutting of Obamacare. Those two things, along with his SCOTUS appointments are more than enough reason for me to vote for him

Rand Paul, but it's a very rare breed to be sure

Rand Paul has voted for the biggest spending packages in history. Given super narrow Senate margins, he could have got concessions. He is all hat and no cattle....
