Want to continue sucking? Then don't hire Bruce back

I hope Martin works out and stays.
If it doesn't work out, I'll be forever grateful of last season's beatdown of UK, which is one thing Martin has done that Bruce wouldn't have.

I still have the score picture saved in my phone that I send to my cousin in Kentucky every once in a while drives him crazy that it happened to kentucky

Huge disappointment? How about Stokes and Hubbs (or should Cuonzo go find some 6 stars out there)?

Stokes played well today but has he really lived up to his billing? Hubbs played more like a walk on prior to his injury.

So you were trolling but you were being serious? Tell me why Pearl wouldn't make the tourney with this team.

Because this team has to run half court sets to win (which Pearl is very mediocre at coaching), and within those sets, it has no one it can reliably kick out to to hit a three when the defense collapses inside (which Pearl always had when he was here). Essentially, this is a grind it out, Big 10 style roster, and BP doesn't have the sophistication to win that way unless he has five star guards who never miss free throws or open threes.

He's not an awful coach, and I can respect that he revived this program, but there's a reason that Kansas, Kentucky, or even Purdue or Oklahoma State are not lining up to hire him when he becomes eligible again. He belongs at a bottom feeding hoops program in a good conference (Va Tech, Minnesota, or Texas Tech).

Martin s recruiting has been a huge disappointment. And no incoming players to get excited about. Unless you find the NIT exciting.

I have been neutral on Martin now for three seasons wishing he would be successful. I have now come to the conclusion that Martin is not the right coach for UT. Martin has been given the benefit of the doubt by most Vol fans but the talent level does not match the wins. The players are not CONSISTENT, they get rattled way too easy, and for the most part they appear to be not giving 100%.

These issues rest squarely on the coach, plain and simple. Martin is not designing a game plan that gets the most out of his players, period. Even the most ardent Martin supporters can not dispute the above. Hart needs to get serious with finding another coach!

With regards to Pearl, I believe he could come in and produce but the truth is, and I like Pearl, is he has some serious integrity issues! The barbecue does not bother me but lying, especially when you are caught, bothers me! I guess if you value wining over integrity then Pearl is the answer. For me, unless he agrees to be on a short leash, there are other coaches out there who can do the job.

Bottom line, tough times are ahead for Tennessee Basketball. Hart, it's time to start fixing the problem or the hill is going to get steeper the longer you wait! GO VOLS!

Mike Hamilton ... The gift that keeps on giving! :banghead2::banghead2:

So grateful for one outlier win vs Kentucky?

Pearl was the most successful coach we've had since Mears. With everything being equal last year, I'd think Bruce would've won by 40+. I was pleased with the Ky win last year but what did it get us? Nothing. Another NIT appearance at the end of the day.

Not saying I want Pearl back, but I'm a little more grateful for Pearl's 6 NCAA tourney Appearances, Elite 8, top 10 rankings, 3 SEC East conf championships, 20/30 win seasons and making UT basketball nationally relevant again.

So Cuonzo should not have recruited them? He should have had crystal bowl that would tell him that their 5 star ratings were not going to pan out how you imagined (and we have not even seen what Hubbs will do when he is healthy)? Was Calipari also wrong because he offered Stokes as well?

You are out of your freaking mind. Question - Is CCM sophisticated enough to win or even coach a "Big 10 style roster"?

Why would Kansas or Kentucky go after him? That arguement ust shows how dumb you are

Okay genius, enlighten me about the one game changing PG or scoring guard he has recruited. Other than Stokes, how about an impact post player? Yeah that's what i thought.

The last game changing PG we had was recruited by Buzz Peterson

I have no idea why we have some fans that continue to defend crappy coaches, even after everyone knows that they aren't going to make it. It's a business people. He sucks, so he needs to be fired.

Most programs don't recruit more then 1 five star post player and 1 five star PG on regular basis - more like every 3-4 years if they are lucky (Kentucky and few other traditional basketball powers are exceptions). I think we have a very good and talented roster - losing today to ultra talented UK in Lexington (where the refs also helped them) does not change that. However I will say one thing - given the heat that is being brought on Cuonzo recently it will be much more difficult for him to get us another Stokes or Hubbs in the future (those types of recruits will question his job stability).
Also, how about giving Cuonzo some credit for the job he has done with McRae? He was not a 5 star recruit but has certainly played like one over the last couple of years.
