I said evacuate - not leave permanently. An orderly Afghan withdrawal wouldn't have required evacuation - it would have been just leaving. The take over by the Taliban necessitated an evacuation. Likewise we had to evacuate our Ukrainian embassy.

Chernobyl has been mentioned as an avenue of advance towards Kyiv. So much so Ukrainian forces have had drills simulating combat in the exclusion zone.
