Have you read The Revolt of the Majors: How the Air Force Changed After Vietnam? It's an interesting read. The problem is that then peace rolls around or we get encumbered too long in places like Afghanistan doing the wrong stuff and lessons are forgotten because politics takes over again.

Well, George lived in a world of sailing ships and two big oceans - and only one of those was important at the time. We live in a time of supersonic, hypersonic, and nuclear weapons - not to mention that the economic structure and connectivity have completely changed everything. Times change. So why think George was right about all this, but slavery was wrong, and the difference in acceptability of current and past thinking appears to depend only on a topic?

The US achieved all objectives in Afghanistan by 2011. Afghanistan let the Taliban come back in power, not the US. We handed the keys back over to the people long ago. We weren't driven out. We didn't "lose". We did what we came to do and left. The US, unlike Russia, isn't invading countries to gain more land. I think thats the part you seem to really struggle with.

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and had been directly involved with the fighting against Ukraine as well as supporting a shame government and terrorists. As much as your Russian handlers try to tell you they had nothing to do with that there is plenty of videographic evidence showing the Russian military literally convoying right into Ukraine.

Donbas - Russia has and continues to provide boots on the ground and logistical support to the separatists who by all measures are considered terrorists (Russia being a state sponsor of terrorism isn't anything new). That's why your Minsk agreements never worked, because Russia wouldnt stop supporting the separatists and their fighting (which Russia was/is continually involved in).

Russia again invaded in 2022 and tried to overthrow the Ukrainian government. They have failed miserably.

NATO has been training tons of countries on Russias border. Why isn't Russia invading them?

Your excuses are weak, you continue to reek of paid Russian internet troll, and you remain heavily wrapped around the axle of the sunken cost fallacy in all things Russia.

What difference does this make? You don't create situations that cause people to fly nukes over here if we would mind our own business in these regional conflicts, practice diplomacy and engage in mutually beneficial commerce.

They are not the ones bringing up nukes. The West is threatening to retaliate with nukes if Russia uses them. The problem is that Russia has never said they would use nukes offensively. Putin's mentioning of nukes was in reference to comments made by clowns like Biden and Liz Truss.

They wouldn’t use them in an offensive capacity. Leaving the door open for a defensive strike, say to provide cover for one of Russia’s many strategic battlefield reorganizations (ie, retreats).
