War in Ukraine

This is at least the second change at the top we have seen during this war. The last time it was sold as Russia getting serious and that Ukraine should be afraid because Russia had fixed its leadership problems
It will be the same story this time. But they really mean it this time!

Queue the Bennie Hill theme music and play tape of these two at double speed.

Can't have these Chinese coming into Afghanistan and building infrastructure and cutting economic deals. Time for the US to send in their militia...

At Least 5 Killed In Kabul Suicide Blast Possibly Targeting Chinese Delegation | ZeroHedge

It's unclear if the Chinese delegation was targeted. If so, it would appear that terrorists are specifically seeking to go after the Chinese government's diplomatic and business presence in the country.

China has already been on alert, with Taliban authorities earlier vowing to protect Chinese nationals, after the December 12 bombing and shooting attack on Kabul's Longan Hotel, which is well-known gathering place of Chinese businessmen and diplomats.

South China Morning Post reviews of that earlier assault and others:

Isis - a key rival of the Taliban - claimed responsibility for the December 12 attack on Kabul Longan Hotel, which left five Chinese nationals injured. Several Afghan military and police were also killed.
The assault on the Longan - a hotel run by Chinese that had served a wave of visiting Chinese businessmen since the Taliban took over the country - came less than two weeks after an attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul. In September, a suicide bomber hit Russia’s mission.

You know that the Chinese has pissed off Muslims on their own right?

And secondly, you do know this is Afghanistan. No one has had much/any real success with foreign investments before.

But dont worry the chinese will legally own afghanistan in a few years and only delivered about 5% of their promise.

A nation typically changes its military leadership when a war is going well, right?

They culled the chickens in order to save them from spreading the flu... even though they knew that it wasn't commercial poultry that was spreading the bird flu but it was regular migratory birds.

Yeah it's interesting that the flu gets constant reboots in humans, all birds, horses, dogs, and swine. As far as we know the 1918 Spanish flu got it's start in pigs in Kansas.

This whole thing with eggs has been manufactured. It's funny how there seems to be no shortage of chicken at the grocery store or when I go to Chik Fil A.

Maybe so. Not sure the end game with that one. I do know that most meat birds are a different breed such as Cornish Crosses. They generally aren't raised with egg producing chickens like White Leghorns, Golden Comets, or Rhode Island Reds. Though, as a hobby farm chicken, Rhode Island Reds are a good all purpose chicken. Raised them for most of my life.

Yeah also seeing where the Brits are going to send 10-12 Challenger 2s.
10-12 Challengers... Ukrainiacs with a microphone are now starting to talk and express concern about the levels of support they are given vs what was asked for...

The US must decide what ‘victory’ means in Ukraine – or waste even more lives there | Frank Ledwidge

Until now the weaponry transferred to Ukraine has not included significant amounts of the kind of heavy equipment that will allow Ukraine to retake its land. The key capabilities here, as requested by Ukraine’s military command, are US-made tanks, armoured fighting vehicles and a step-change in the amount of artillery. We are talking here of hundreds, not tens. Earlier this month, the US announced the transfer of 50 Bradley armoured fighting vehicles. The Ukrainians asked for up to 700.

Hey dummy... the US or no one else in The West can give you what you are requesting without jeopardizing their own security... nor do any of them have the industrial capabilities of giving them to you in a timely manner that will tilt the scales in this conflict.

So how do you look at shell fragments and know the origin? A missile or a drone maybe, but a shell fragment ...

It's going to be fun watching China own Afghanistan. The list of others trying that feat is long and painful. Maybe the best strategic move we have ever made was leaving Afghanistan for the Chinese.
