War in Ukraine

We are providing just enough assistance to Ukraine to keep them afloat. They want more, but we won’t give them more. We’re going to keep giving them enough to continue to drain the Russians.
Your words... So basically they are cannon fodder to advance our geostrategic ambitions. This has nothing to do with the people of Ukraine.

We’re also starting to give them more advanced weaponry . There’s no better way to battle test weapons than actual battle and that’s what we’re doing w/ certain things.
So the MIC also uses them for R&D. They are lab rats and crash test dummies. Again... your words, not mine.

The problem is that with us providing weaponry and ammo for the Ukrainians is that we will be in short supply. We need to do be producing at a war time level as opposed to the level we’re currently producing . If we don’t start producing at a higher level we will get caught with our pants down when China decides attacking Taiwan is their next move.
Are we at war?

Also, why is Taiwan our issue? Or for that matter, why is Ukraine of our concern?

The Russians OTOH are resupplying themselves by purchasing weapons from China. The weapons they are buying from China are the same weapons they sold to China 15-20 years ago. So again, China is coming out on top.
WTF are you talking about? Did you get this info from network news or the NYT?

And lets suppose that is true... So? All you are admitting is that Russia is outproducing the entire collective west and their storerooms. If what you say is true, the Russia's present production and past production is outpacing the West's present and past stockpiles. Now imagine if China started producing weapons... the West/US would be torched.

I don’t necessarily agree with how it works . We’re basically saying that we’re trying to protect and uphold democracy, but the reality is that Ukraine was a joke of a democracy and the goal here is a weaker Russia using up their military resources while China continues to build up their military. We would much rather have one be weaker than both be strong at the same time.
So they should be used as cannon fodder because they live in a failed state anyways...

That plan ain't working out so well.

We're not forcing the Ukrainians to fight...
Nice choice of words. The US lead them down a road and convinced them to provoke Russia into a conflict and we told them that we would have their back. Then, when it became clear after last fall's offensives that this war was out of their control, they've started to gaslight them with promises of weapons deliveries in 2025 and beyond... because the West doesn't have the capabilities of keeping up with the demands of fighting a real war.

Our govt doesnt give 2 sh1ts about Ukraine, their goal is to weaken Russia and overthrow Putin. Well, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have made Russia stronger and rallied the Russian people to Putin.

Folks want to pretend Ukraine will be more militarized in the future, but they dont talk about what Russia is currently building up and their capacity to mass produce arms going forward.

In an effort to weaken Russia we have likely made them stronger than at any time in our lives. Total backfire and we destroyed Ukraine in the process. Everything we touch turns to crap.

Not to mention that the goal was to also "isolate" Russia and cripple their economy. Instead, the world outside of the EU/NATO has rallied behind Russia and it is Western countries that are suffering from a decaying economy, not Russia.

The only facet that the West is winning on is the media/propaganda war. But Economically, diplomatically and militarily they are losing badly.

A lot of what I’m saying are the words from different people, 2 people that are much more in the know about this situation than you or I. One in particular being a former intelligence officer who Ive recently gotten to know . It’s not quite as simple as I’ve suggested, but that’s the basic gist of it.

I love how it seems that you take some sort of offense to what I’m saying by acting like it’s me who is making policy or even supporting it. Please stop. I’m providing information explained to me by someone who knows much more than you (shocking to you I’m sure).

As far as what you’re saying about the Russians outproducing everyone. I thought it was pretty well known fact that the Russians have had massive, massive amounts of weaponry, ammo stockpiles left left all over Eastern Europe since the collapse of The Soviet Union. So the Russians are buying back their several decades old weapons and ammo ( real top of the line $hit) from China for a more expensive price than they sold it in the first place . Brilliant. I wouldn’t say Russia is outproducing or out performing anyone. They’re just buying back their crappy equipment they’ve already produced, while China is the one that is winning. The rate at which China is winning overal should be troubling to everyone.

Russia stronger? You apparently haven't been paying attention. Russia is a joke--a backwater dictatorship, mafia state, only held together by its oil and gas.

Russia will come out of this much stronger. We are all but guaranteeing it by our actions. This isnt 1991. Live in the present.

They describe it in detail, yet they cant see it. Interesting phenomena.

You should ask your intel buddy if he has changed his mind since the intel leaks.

This comment is beyond absurd. Do tell us how economically Russia is a better position now than it was before the war it started. That's comical. The opposite is the case--obviously. How's the ruble doiong? How about oil and gas revenues? Economic/GDP growth? The west is losing militarily? Do tell us how? "The world outside the EU has rallied behind Russia." Which nations are you referring to? Iran has, but very few nations of consequence. China is a concern and is being watch. Most of the countries who are neutral are of little consequence.

Your viewpoint is rather...how to put this politely....very off. Do explain how Ukraine "provoked" Russia. Ukraine is an independent country. Russia provoked Ukraine by arming and supporting the separatist movement in the East. Eastern residents whose loyalty lay more with Russia than the country in which they were living should have moved to Russia---maybe some did. NATO's expansion has provoked Russia--but that's Russia's problem. It's always been a defensive alliance whose members are very happy to be in it--now more than ever.

Why should the U.S. care about Ukraine? Some isolationists and right-wingers asked that question before the U.S. got involved in WWI and WWII. Values, systems of government, rule of law...freedom.

Just a heads up, Ras lives in his own reality.

At least Russians can still buy a good Lada.

You do realize the vast majority who post here are conservative or lean right don't you?

I would say about almost 50 50. All I know is that alot of pro Ukraine people aren't getting the accurate story. I'm not accusing anyone a bit for or against Ukraine, I think we're getting lied to.

Excellent WSJ article here on Teixeira and the online groups he was in.

Airman, Arrested for Leaks, Chatted in Groups Fascinated by Weapons and War

Couldn't read the article, but my bet would be that this kid was bragging about being important because of all the stuff he knew and sees, and somebody said "Prove it." That's the worst part about immaturity and anything that smacks at all of power ... and knowing secrets is always considered power.

As bad as his actions are, there should be a lot of heads rolling because he was allowed to see and mishandle classified stuff that he had no reason to see. He appears to be the IT equivalent of the mailman; your mailman doesn't have access to what's in your mail just because he is in the chain. The people who failed to see that the classified stuff was secured just as surely as being inside the equivalent of an sealed, addressed envelope are equally guilty.
