War in Ukraine

I’m sure comrade Volgr will be sure to tote the official line.
Sounds like it could be a direct quote from one of our putinistas

“The reason is propaganda of radical values: Today they have 70 genders, and who knows what will come next,” RIA Novosti quoted Beslangurov as saying, echoing President Vladimir Putin’s frequently deployed grievances against Western countries’ comparative gender freedom.

Question for those more knowledgeable on tanks and tank warfare.:

What's up with the canopy on top? Resembles what's on my tractor. Are they attempting to negate Ukraine drone drops into the cabin?

Cope cages are what they're playfully called. My understanding is that they can help shield the vehicle from a direct drone hit because the drone will explode upon contact with the cope cage. They don't do much to assist with more traditional munitions, like javelins

So you're saying without help from the west Ukraine would fold............

So you're saying Ukraine would fold without help from the west? Wow. I guess next you're going to tell us all water is wet or alligators are ornery because they have all them teeth and no toothbrush.

Those "Western values"...

those same western values practiced by those claiming to want to save them?

Citizenship in Russia - Updated Guide for 2023
The common process of getting Russian citizenship is through naturalization. Candidates must present a valid residence permit and proof they have not lived outside Russia for more than 3 months per year. Here are some of the formalities:

  • Agree to abide by the Constitution in Russia.
  • Prove that they have lived in Russia for at least 5 years.
  • Provide financial information and prove that they can support their family with that money.
  • Have a basic knowledge of the Russian language.
  • To renounce the nationality of origin, except in cases where Russia has concluded agreements with its states with certain states.
weren't you making a big deal of how accepting Russia was for making AN exception for ONE minority to be allowed to speak their own language? You didn't once complain that they had to speak Russian.

Isn't the language thing a consistent requirement for people who want a border wall to keep immigrants out? "Speak American dammit".

what EL said somewhat. Also helps with camo, gives them an attachment point that doesn't interfere with the crew, and can help break up the profile when seen from above by a spy plane or drone. A lot of them can work on a formula, and will look for patterns, and the cage can break that up.

i like how you are pointing out the obvious and thinking its a win for you. yeah of course you can't rely on one piece of the strategy to defend the whole thing, no one claimed that it would.
A Patriot did knock down one of Russias hypersonic missiles. Not too shabby for a 1970's military toy.

Luckily for @Rasputin_Vol reading comprehension is not a required skill for Russian citizenship

It honestly seems Russia is just trying to cut the cost of running their prisons. These guys (including the one-eyed guy from the first video) are nothing but meat grinder material, there to draw (and ultimately absorb) Ukrainian ammo.

its the same fallacy that a lot of people fall into with war. They think just because there is a clear edge it means it should be perfect. war is anything but perfect.

Could the US roll Russia? Yes. but we would still lose a ton of lives and equipment.

are we buying the stories of the Russian's using phosphorous in Bakhmut? I have seen pictures of the fires, but I couldn't tell you the difference between one fire and the next.

Sounds like it's happening....

so it looks like my predictions of what their possible plan of attack was was correct, except its an "AND" condition and not the "OR" I assumed. Because they are hitting all around Bahkmut, striking south of Dnipro and could go towards Crimea or Melitpol, and are pushing from the Kharkiv direction.

Lets see how this plays out. I am hoping some of this are just feints to tie down the Russians so they can't reinforce whatever the main attack is.

Betcha we'll see lots of reports of tuck and runs by the Russians. They're exhausted, undersupplied, unmotivated, and know they're fighting a war they can't win.

iirc there was a ton of captured equipment in the last offensive. I wonder what gets turned up this time.

It does appear to be ratcheting up. I thought the assault would be more concentrated. But a concerted offensive against a foe that has trouble coordinating multiple armies is probably the best idea as long as you don't spread yourself too thin.

They could still be poking here and there to see how the Russians react. I assume troop movements (or lack thereof) in response to various probings will give them more info for a larger counter.
