War in Ukraine

Whatever.

So you're of the opinion that our government forced Putin to invade Ukraine?

Makes total sense.

Didn’t state any opinion except our involvement is a distraction both financially and politically. Take that as you will.

That’s cute! Like I said, notify WP, The Hill and The Independent before you decide to enter a GIF of hope.

But please, never mind View attachment 551577

So you've so much faith in the writers at "WP, The Hill and The Independent" that you're willing to suspend realty in order to agree with them in spite of being shown the actual definition of proxy war?

That's an impressive amount of fait you have put into those organizations.

Expert Comment: This is no proxy war - Russia really invaded Ukraine

Using that logic, everything is a distraction from whatever is in your personal field of view.

Some might say that the border crisis is a distraction from handgun violence and that handgun violence in the news is a distraction from inflation.

Isn't it possible that there are important issues that happen to be newsworthy that are also unrelated in every way but time?

Didn say I have faith, just stating you might need to revisit world publications in regards to the term “proxy war” in real time before you tip toe around dictionaries for spelling bee words.

So you really do believe that Raytheon managed to convince Putin to invade Ukraine back in 2014, and then escalate the invasion in 2022, so they could up their stock price?

This is really what you believe?
I believe the most money available to the politicians comes from the defense contractors and the bankers, and a little turmoil in the world leads to a lot of money funneled to those two industries. Draw your own conclusion.

You didn't answer the question. You are attributing the conflict, to US defense contractors, wanting to make money.

So explain to us how you believe US defense contractors, managed to convince Putin, to spend billions of Rubles, that could go to line the pockets of himself and his cronies, to start a war in Ukraine, so that these US defense contractors could increase their stock value.

Well, I'd say it would take faith to enact the 'willing suspension of disbelief' required to trust a byline reporter over the standard definition of an established phrase in the English language.

I believe that the US didn't do a damn thing to de-escalate the conflict and therefor encouraged a war that would end up enriching the US defense companies, which probably led to millions of dollars funneled to our politicians.

How else are the defense contractors going to get rich during a democratic regime?
by pumping out a never ending stream of replacement ammo, new fangled contraptions, and various "upgrades" to the equipment they have already sold. Plus a lucrative maintenance contract.

They could also diversify and sell other weapons to Ukraine, ones that aren't on contract with our own government.

Lets not act like any of our MIC was down on hard times, and had no way to make money.

we didn't have to give Ukraine 1 gun for this to be good for our own MIC. look at Europe giving Ukraine all their old Soviet stuff and buying up new stuff from us.

is this the world publications we are not supposed to trust anyway? If we aren't supposed to trust them why are we getting caught up on their semantics? Seems like you are arguing FOR the media, not against it.

Not arguing for, just stating the message presented.

The problem is, nobody buys anything except our military unless there is a way to dispose of the old crap. Wars and conflicts get rid of a lot of stuff really quickly.

Today…let me know when Ukraine flags have been removed from cars and social media handles. Just not a headline until it needs to be.
People aren't out honking horns and waving the Ukrainian flag over this. But I believe a pretty significant majority of Americans don't want to see the largest country (entirely) in Europe crushed under Putin's thumb.

How come you liberals were such anti-war people when you were younger and now that you're older you're all for war.

Okay, I agree. So why do we seem to be sending our stockpiles to Ukraine, so they can be replenished later?
We have multiple forward stock piled caches of munitions. Israel has a large one that was tapped to to send to Ukraine. There is another one in Saudi Arabia that I remember. This really isn’t anything new.

And as I’ve stated multiple times I believe we are obligated to provide lethal aid based on the 1994 agreement. If we don’t intend to keep our word we shouldn’t give it.

If you were astute, you'd realize that the Vietnam war had dragged on for 10 years, had resulted in the deaths of some 50,000 Americans and seemed to have no end in sight. Our young people were fighting and dying. In Ukraine Americans are not fighting and dying. We're simply helping a good country defend itself and reclaim its territory from a terrorist nation that's our chief adversary. Rather big difference.

I became anti war after I saw it first hand. I'd say today I'm anti wrong and pro right. I believe Ukraines is right in defending their country against aggressors and I believe the US and Europe are right in helping them.
