War in Ukraine

Very interesting read.

This bit got me wondering - how many rifles could the US populace truly bring to bear?
The same CIA trained mercenaries they used in the Middle East and Central Asia? The same machine gun armed guys that tried to stage a coup in Kazakhstan? You mean those guys?

No.

The year is 2047
The island nation of Tonga is the power in the Pacific
They invade Southern CA and seize strawberry fields
They have pushed as far as the Sierra Nevada’s

How many rifles could the US truly bring to bear (not counting standing military assets)?

You know Putin's concern about Ukraine in NATO and missiles being placed there is legit. It borders Russia after all.. Remember our reaction to USSR putting missiles in Cuba 90 miles away?

I think we should concede to no missiles in Ukraine or other potential NATO entries that are contiguous to Putinville, in exchange for something we want.

We’re not putting missiles in Ukraine anyways. Why should Putin have a veto right on what a sovereign country in the former eastern bloc wants to do? The Soviet empire is gone the Kremlin has no right to decide another country’s future.

I agree on the missiles but we can't turn NATO in a bargaining chip. It is by far the strongest military alliance on earth and we can never let Putin have any input on who can or cannot join. NATO should already have an envoy in Finland and Sweden encouraging them to request membership the minute Russia invades Ukraine.

NATO did say if Finland and Sweden ever put in an application they would fast track them in. I think if this does pop off that will force those two countries into the alliance because Moscow has already issued threats against them.

You know what? How about we don't do a damn thing and let the EU grow a set of nuts for a change? If they don't have the stones to fight Russia, then why should we?

Good argument.... 80 years ago. Problem is now we have taken our position and can't back down now. If we do, Putin will take that as a green light to literally try to take over the world.

Are you effing insane? Pearl Harbor? That wasn’t made up. Putin literally is going to make up a reason.
So you admit that the other 3 were made up...

Thanks for proving my point.

And we've discussed Pearl Harbor a dozen times in here. The US created conditions that pushed Japan into a corner.

No, it is just the most obvious one to point out.

I’ve seen your discussions on Pearl Harbor. They resemble that of a poor parent making excuses of their child’s poor behavior. Not his fault(Japan). Someone goaded him into it. So effing stupid.
