War in Ukraine

I want to like the guy, but I often find his videos to be unnecessarily long.
He could have easily trimmed 10 minutes off the video.

What it points out, though, is if the Russian people are willing to continue supplying troops and a hefty part of GDP to be ground up on the front, eventually Ukraine is in trouble.

Tucker Carlson claims US HATES Russia because it's a 'Christian' country - as rumors swirl he has approached Putin AGAIN for an interview on X platform

Tucker Carlson has claimed the United States 'hates' Russia because 'it's a Christian country' - amid claims in Moscow that he's trying to land an interview with Vladimir Putin.

The former Fox News star told MCC Feszt, a social, political and cultural festival in Hungary, that Russia is like Hungary in that both are nations 'built on Christian precepts'.

'That is enough to incite our policy makers in the United States and that is exactly why they hate Russia,' he said.

Reality disagrees with Tucker Carlson on a regular basis.

Yeah..cause that guy is more reputable then Col Macgregor... maybe you don't know who he is. But I sure as hell do and so do many others...
Oh but he is more reputable than Macgregor or Ritter. A homeless bum on the street has more cred than Macgregor. They are bought and paid for Russian propagandists.

Believe him all you want. And yeah we all know who he is.

Strange. Is everything normal now?

Seems to be. Had to enable dark mode again - no big deal. In dark mode alerts are not easy to see right now. Some are like almost white text on white BG, and then for some reason some become like the old dark mode - makes some legible and others not. More a nit than a big issue.

If you actually wanted to win this war in Ukraine you'd pick someone like Macgregor to organise it, and not the idiots currently doing so. This is a proxy war. And Ukrainian people are the meat for the grinder....sure russians are also meat for the grinder...But Putin is very much willing to sacrifice them, and is a much larger nation that can afford attrition much longer then Ukraine.

I think the irony is Putin agrees with NATO"s strategy at the moment... if he didn't, he'd be doing more to change the current paradigm. He might be an evil son of a b*tch, but unlike our leadership he doesn't repeat mistakes for the sake of optics. He's a dictator optics are quite unimportant to him...see current biometrics of wagner guy splayed across the crash site. If the current status quo was bad for him he'd change it. A more depopulated Ukraine is going to end up being repopulated by non Ukrainians.....
Ukraine was losing population before 2022, but you know what had the single biggest impact on that loss? When they lost 10 million or so to Russia occupying their land. many more fled the violence. Losing that land and that population, I have YET to see any Russian claim Ukraine has lost 10 million due to the fighting, is FAR worse than the fighting. Especially considering that was the richest parts of Ukraine, which is why Russia wanted it. You have fewer Ukrainians, because Russia took them, and those left have fewer economic options. Which will just continue to increase their population loss.

Your fix to the problem is not a fix at all. its accepting a slow painful death instead of fighting for their future. And that assumes that Russia is done taking from Ukraine. Russia has consistently shown that they are willing to take more and more given the chance. and any future conflict Ukraine will be even less able to defend against. They will be weaker, and their suppliers will be less likely to back them again due to war weariness.

Russia isn't in a better spot because of this war. The attrition factor will be equally real for them. They too were suffering a declining population pre-2022. Even if you buy they are losing less men due to fighting than Ukraine, they had half a million, that's what Russia reported so you know its larger than that, that's equally as big of a hit. The distinction I would make with Putin is that what we count as a mistake and what Putin counts as a mistake are two different standards. Yeah Putin doesn't care about western mindset mistakes, but his own mistakes have cost him. See the Wagner coup, no way to claim he came out of that smelling like roses. Putin will have to keep pushing his allies more and more, and we have already seen that crack. The Chechens have been vocal, but absent from the battlefield. Belarus and Kazakhstan have both openly refused Putin's calls to war. Armenia lost territory relying on Russia. Russia has been unable to honor several different arms deals already, biggest was India. NATO expanded despite that being the goal of Russia's war.

I’ll have all that squared away by tonight. Hopefully.

In other words Putin was lying to Ukraine (and others) to remain calm that taking over Georgia was a one time thing and everybody else could rest easy - they weren't on the Russian menu. There is a slight possibility he was telling the truth, and a taste of Georgia gave him an appetite for biting into some other countries. If Putin lives, Ukraine will not be the last Russian invasion.

how does that article help your argument?

It still points out that we are giving them billions of dollars.

$26.4 billion in financial loans, the money to back the loan had to come from somewhere.
$18.3 billion in security assistance, it certainly isn't free to provide direct intelligence, logistic support, or training. If nothing else there is manpower required by the US.
$4.7 billion in weapons loans/grants. The money to buy those weapons had to come from somewhere.

that's still at least 50 billion gone from our coffers. and its not like the weapons we are giving them $23.5 billion were free to us. The only argument there is that we aren't spending 23.5 NOW. and I would also hazard a guess that shipping isn't cheap for that much equipment.
Did you support the US military build up during the cold war?

But would you be surprised? The powers that be, both Ukrainian and US want this to drag on as long as possible.
Actually I would be surprised on Crimea. I expect actual Russian territory to be off limits but this statement seems to contradict even that. Will be interesting to see what if anything changes.

For the sake of argument do you really think Ukrainian leaders want this to continue? If things go south and they lose and the country is destroyed and thousands dead or wounded they know they’ll be the target of revenge by both the civilian population and what’s left of the military.

Because they are getting wealthy off the war, if things go south they’ll simply escape the country with their accumulated riches, take asylum in a western country and live life comfortably.
