War in Ukraine

Whoever this guy is, he's awesome

The problem is its all projecting. Europe is about as Free and Democratic as Communist China, his whole speech is about bullying which is what they are trying to do. Georgia at least figured it out before they got Ukraine'd.

Europe will continue to do what the U.S. tells it or sanctions i.e. Freedom and Democracy.

Huge news if true... particularly if it was shot down 30 miles from the front. Raises questions about the range of the AMRAAMs we've supplied to Ukraine. If we've really given them the longer-range stuff, this could be a game changer as it could finally shut down Russia's glide bombers.

The pro-Moscow Telegram channel VDV for Honesty and Justice shared the post, adding more detail.

"Urgent!!! Our Su-34 has been shot down. The crew was killed," it said, adding that the aircraft "was apparently shot down by an F-16, which was over enemy-controlled territory."

It also said that the plane had been shot down during an air bomb drop "approximately 50 km (30 miles) from the front line," without giving details of where it had got the information from.

How is theWar going

Same as 9-12 months ago. Throw some guys into a van, push them out in a ditch so they get an artillery shell or FAB to the head. Slow grind west. The rest is propaganda which the half-life is less than the van droppers as this point. As I mentioned, the Ukraine was given enough to last thru the end of year... they're going to need lots more as this might only be the beginning.

My guess is Ukraine will be dropped in the not too distant future regardless of the election outcome. I could be wrong on that, if so, this could take considerable time. The biggest welfare State will be a foreign country.

Its hard to envision a good outcome for the Ukrainians. My take is those Ukrainians should start to learn German, Polish, French, etc.

that slow push "west" still has parts of Russia in Ukrainian hands. and its vastly more territory than the Russians have taken in their grind for the last year.

There is so much propaganda out here about what's going on it is hard to trust much of it.

What appears to be happening is heavy losses on both sides.

I don't think there was ever any attempt to get both sides to stop this conflict early. How could there be with the democrats foreign policy? A trainwreck and a citizenry thrown to the wolves to please elitists and make a point. The average person's life does not matter to elitists.

Democrats = Elitists
Billionaire Republican = Average Joe

Got it.

And, yes, at this point, it's essentially an ugly war of attrition w little actual movement of the front lines.

Yep. About a million casualties with both sides combined. I can't see how or when this will end TBH.

There are plenty of neocons that love/loved it too. Yes, the current administration owns this war.

US election looms over NATO discussions to Trump-proof Ukraine aid

BrusselsCNN — The imminent US presidential election hung over a meeting of NATO defense chiefs this week, as NATO allies braced for US support for Ukraine to shrink over the next year if Donald Trump wins even as Iran, North Korea and China step up their military aid to Russia.

In a closed-door meeting with his counterparts on Thursday at NATO, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke about the upcoming election in response to questions about it from allies and how it might impact Ukraine aid, saying he can’t predict the future but that there is still bipartisan support for Ukraine in Congress, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

NATO officials say they are preparing for the US to take on a lesser role.

“We can’t expect that the US will continue to take on an outsized burden” in supporting Ukraine, a senior NATO official said on Thursday, “which is why the Secretary General wants to see NATO leading on security assistance, rather than one ally taking that on.”

“Europe needs to step up even more,” the official added.
