War in Ukraine

Market Garden would have worked had the bridges not been blown but Monty wasn’t the greatest tactician and neither was his predecessor Field Marshal Haig. Have not been impressed with Russian Army in the slightest. The pictures of out dated T-72’s with those goofy looking cages welded to the top to “prevent” Javelin missile attacks is akin to Toyota trucks in the Middle East with heavy machine guns mounted to their truck beds.

yep. Dropping paratroopers on top of two refitting SS panzer divisions and depending on a single highway to get to them.

What could possibly go wrong?

And what exactly does she have to do with it? You spoke of snatching up his lover and making her talk.

And what happens if nothing of substance is found during that raid?

I'm really glad some of you aren't in charge of our military. Some of you have this serious Buck Turgidson and Jack D. Ripper persona going on,.
When you live a life with the foundational belief that there is no objective reality, this kind of insanity is what you get. I also would like to point out, again, that this guy is A-OK with killing people that don't align with him politically. He's openly stated it himself.

America has oil to give, and we have more if we have to. Stop relying on oil.

If I recall correctly, the Germans shut down about 6 nuclear power plants under pressure from environmentalist loons. So, they had a relatively clean source of energy that they cut off and tried to add all these unreliable sources like solar and wind. Stupid morons. They get what they deserve.

World events are world events -- not politics in the sense of domestic politics which divide us and are the reason for the 'no politics' rule. Talking about Ukrainian soldiers telling a Russian warship to go eff themselves is no different than talking Betty White dying or the endless MJ vs Lebron debate. It's a recent event that happened like the weird folks we encounter at Wal*Mart. No one is going to get heated over it because no one is going to take Putin's side on this. We should be able to talk to each other on this, especially when it's as simple as "I want this on a tee shirt." The recent post on parents suing Knox Co over chewing/eating in class is FAR more political than me wanting a tee shirt.

Well, Monaco is a principality not a country (sorry, I just had to use the opportunity to point that out). .

Regardless of how you categorize it, it's still a sovereign city-state and micronation that's recognized as such.

Don't play semantics over the minutia.

Correct. Europe made their own bed with this energy stuff. And the worst part is so much of the required fuel and infrastructure support for nuclear could have come from us and our close allies.

Idiots.

What are you a Russian bot? So what if he shared intel with China, you do that all the time to influence another country. We've been sharing intel with the world the last two weeks.

As far as XI, he wants us distracted because it weakens Taiwan. We should be seriously improving their anti-ship and anti-aircraft defenses. Chinese really need a bloodless capitulation there. XI doesn't want to end up with 20,000 troops and invasion ships at the bottom of the Formosa straits, not that he would care about the lost troops, but those ships could not be easily replaced.

It's really too bad we can't get things stirred up between the Russians and Chinese again. In the late 60's, while Mao was still around, the Russians and Chinese had multiple border skirmishes with casualties on both sides. Their cultural hostility dates back to the Mongol hordes crossing the steppes into Russia.

There was even a Second City skit where a Russian diplomat is taunting his Chinese counterpart about China's then non-existent heavy missile capability resulting in the inability to hit Russia with they nukes and the Chinese diplomat says "No problem we have 1 million volunteers that will deliver it."

Do you remember what happened when another country tried to add weapons to Cuba that was 90 miles away . I get that those were nukes , but I’ll bet you China is going to look at it the same way if we try beefing up a defense system for Taiwan. They are much safer if we keep our military noses out of it for as long as possible .

Looks like SWIFT expulsion is in the cards, the final holdouts have come out in favor. Also it seems all of NATO is sending arms and ammunition shipments to Ukraine over the border. Putin has rallied the world against him.
Has Germany?

Except Germany. They are too soft. Too aggressive 80 years ago and too soft now.

So what? They were openly sharing what info they had in the daily press briefings. The out front intelligence of this whole situation has been spot on and quite frankly because of it Russia has been left isolated.

If it was a so open intelligence, the Xi should of just watched CNN and not had to been told.

I think Germany is the sole holdout right now on SWIFT, but their minister came out with language suggesting they may now also be on board with this.

It's the nuclear sanction. It could really F Russia which is good but also potentially very bad. Who knows how Putin and the oligarchs react if their revenues drop another 30%+ on all oil/gas supplies.

Yeah, I don’t think he’s going to back down with his tail between his legs. He may very well respond with nukes as he will figure he has nothing to lose at that point.
