War in Ukraine

Trump Savages Zelensky and Green Lights Europe Putting Peacekeeping Troops In Ukraine

President Donald Trump tore into Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after U.S. negotiators opened talks with Russia without him that are meant to find a way to end Russia's war on Ukraine.

Trump blamed Zelensky for failing to head off the war inside his country, and the president said he himself was behind a push to require Ukraine to hold new elections before any peace plan can go through.

‘You have leadership now that's allowed a war to go on that should have never even happened, even without the United States,’ Trump said from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida Tuesday – even as he said ‘I like him personally’ when speaking about Zelensky.

'You should have ended it – three years, you should have never started it,' he said, appearing to blame Zelensky for Russia's 2022 invasion.

Donald Trump unsettled partners in Europe by appearing to concede all of Putin's major demands before negotiations had even begun. European officials now believe that Trump could withdraw U.S. troops from the Baltics as part of the negotiations around Ukraine, leaving the continent vulnerable to a Russian attack.

Ukrainian army officials told the Sun that Trump and Putin's friendly negotiations aren't doing anything to deter them: 'We will fight until the last death. We have nothing to lose. We are not going anywhere.'

Trump's allies in the Republican Party have now begun turning on him. Senate Armed Services Chairman Roger Wicker told CNN when asked whether Putin can be trusted during negotiations: 'No. Putin is a war criminal who should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed.'

He added that the Russians will try to do 'anything to their advantage'. A congressional official backed Wicker's comments, telling NBC: 'We have zero intelligence that Putin is interested in a real peace deal right now.'

Tactical nuclear weapons is a death warrant for humanity. Everyone knows, even tactical nuclear weapons all but ensures MAD.

No one wants to use them because if what that means

This is Russia's defense strategy and they have opening admitted to it since the early 90s i.e. full of USSR. They're not going to allow you to march an army all through Russia like Hitler did.

I would do the same thing, as would the U.S.

Yup, it really is that simple. As I mentioned a few days ago, I don't think it was right of the U.S. to setup the Ukraine and Europe to fail.... but at this point not much the U.S. can do about it.

The neocons setup a good one.

Whatever the reason Putin has such control over Trump --and it doesn't have to be blackmail or bribery or anything of the sort -- you have to admit that Trump's level of adherence to the Russian propaganda line of thougt is astounding.

I totally missed the part where Ukraine started this war. The news coverage on that was pretty scarce.

I don't believe Putin has any dirt on Trump but orange man really picked up those talking points quick after their meeting. I do think he admires him in a way. I don't really know what there is left to do for Ukraine at this point unless Europe decides to man up but to nonchalantly say that Ukraine started the war when they were invaded is gross.

Don't you know? This is an 8-D chess game between Trump and Putin, that we are all too stupid to comprehend.

On the censored Nuland quote,

It's the best example of how the people who are crying for Ukraine and the EU now and trying to make an uproar for domestic political "points," were then perfectly happy with the US cutting out both the EU and the Ukrainians from decisionmaking. These present "hand wringers" and shriekers seem to have suppressed how the US has conducted its efforts, how the US selected the government, and how this -- and much, much more -- was deliberately misrepresented to the US public. (I think that is called "misinformation.") The EU was trying to negotiate with Ukraine and Russia and the US at the time, iirc, but Obama with Biden as point man shut that down.

It also presents an obstacle to people who want to portray former efforts as debonair and courtly and "professional" but Biden's successor as crude. Biden's (most likely) CIA or CIA adjacent people were so vulgar and condescendingly dismissive of Ukraine and the EU, so crude, that one can't even post their famous words here.

In the BBC's account, their diplomatic correspondent Jonathan Marcus repeatedly interpolates his own remarks into the transcript of the phone call in an easily spotted attempt to justify and minimize what the transcript revealed and even to blame the Russians (!) for the fact that US public was ever allowed to know the truth of the matter. At one point Marcus inserts something really interesting with respect to all the money and graft involved in the US intervention in order to excuse the US plot:

"It [the EU] certainly cannot win a short term battle for Ukraine's affections with Russia -- it just does not have the cash inducements available."

Da Poootinn is the easiest guy to read. Of all the so called leaders, I find him easiest to understand.
🤷‍♂️

He's literally spouting Russian propaganda and his base could not care less.

Probably the opposite, isn't they who actually said there was something terribly wrong with MSM i.e. neocon, globalist, evil propaganda? Oh yeah, that was the real news.

Its like you guys spend one half of the day forgetting history and the other half of the day trying to rewrite it.

Trump is weak and feckless. Blaming Ukraine, thereby absolving Russia, for starting the war is shameful.

It's pretty insane to watch 'conservatives' and 'Reagan Republicans™' fawn over the President of the United States falling all over himself to capitulate to a Russian dictator.
