Putin’s allies abandon him over Ukraine invasion
Several of Russia's closest allies and former Soviet satellite states have sharply rebuked President Vladimir Putin over his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Czech President Milos Zeman and Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, both historically strong pro-Russian voices in the European Union, condemned the affront as "an unprovoked act of aggression," AP reports.
What's happening: Kazakhstan, one of Russia's closest allies, denied a request for its troops to join the attack on Ukraine, per NBC News.
- "Russia has committed a crime against peace," Zeman said.
- Zeman, who earlier this week insisted that Russia wouldn't attack Ukraine, changed course and has called for harsh sanctions against Russia, including pulling out of the SWIFT financial system.
- Orban, who has pursued a diplomatic and economic strategy with Putin called "Eastern Opening," condemned "Russia's military action."
- “Hungary’s position is clear: we stand by Ukraine, we stand by Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” said Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijijarto, per AP.

- The Czech Republic closed Russian consulates in the country and stopped issuing visas to Russians except for humanitarian cases.
- The president of Bulgaria, which was Russia's closest ally during the Cold War, said the invasion was "absolutely inadmissible."
- The ruling coalition leaders in Romania called Russia "the architect of the worst security crisis since World War II."
- Moldovan President Maia Sandu said Russia’s attacks were launched "in violation of international norms," and the international community "unanimously condemns these military actions."
Even Moldova is spurning Putin. MOLDAVA!
When it rains, it pours, Puty!![]()
I don't think anybody should have expected them to contribute soldiers, but the news to me is the direct comments condemning the attacks.Romania? Bulgaria? I mean is this news? Did anyone expect them to help Russia's cause? Did someone get paid to write this?
Absolutely mind blowing how incompetent or negligent their commanders have been. How do you lose 2 massive transports full of paratroopers by unnecessarily putting them into jump zone that is that well defended ? I want the Ukrainians to come out of this thing, but I can’t help but feel awful for these young Russian paratroopers and their families for this senseless loss of life . This isn’t an ideology that we’re fighting now. This is the irrational dream of a guy who has the potential for worldwide catastrophe.I think what had been exposed is the myth of Russian military might. Either that or their tactics are terrible
At some point I wonder if Russia doesn't offer up Putin (in some way) to try and distance Russia from the invasion? Make it a rougue Putin scenario. I'm not sure Putin survives this.
It's like the Russians don't know what SEAD is.I think what had been exposed is the myth of Russian military might. Either that or their tactics are terrible
I can tell you for a fact we gave them stealth. He's done for. Stop supporting his operatives.
SWIFT - WikipediaWhat do you want? Boots on the ground? Nuke Moscow? Physically kidnap Putin just to deliver a literal kick to his ass?
I'm genuinely curious.
I can see the $$$$ people tiring of it and his support eroding. I get the feeling the soldiers aren't really into this. There's been suggestions, even from the inside questioning his mental state. I definitely could see a coup. If Russia wants to return to the international community, they'll have to sacrifice something and that very well could be putin. I don't think they'd turn him over, no way, but I could see him being taken out.How does Russia offer up Putin, that guy IS Russia from a political point of view. There would have to be a coup and I can't see that happening.

Russian official issues stark threats to the West
“We are being driven out of everywhere, punished and threatened, but we don't feel scared,” he said, mocking the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and its allies as an attempt to vindicate their past “shameful decisions, like a cowardly retreat from Afghanistan.”
And there is the proof of how our withdrawal was handled gave our enemies a renewed boldness. They recognize the weak leadership.
