War in Ukraine

You know this how?

Did you also predict the collapse of the USSR in 1991?

In reality, all it would take is a few key weapons systems and Ukraine would turn the tide and begin repelling Russia. Do you not think we possess the technology and arms to defeat Russian troops currently in Ukraine? Of course we have it. We've chosen not to put boots on the ground (agree with that), but we've also chosen to not give Ukraine the weapons necessary to win outright. Beyond my pay grade, but the rationale is probably along the lines of Putin is the devil we know. If he loses in Ukraine, he'd like fall out a window in short order, and then we have a federation of states there - possessing nuclear arms - that could fall into political disarray and civil unrest.

Zelenskyy has his work cut out for him.
I think you sort of made my point for me.

"Z is killing off his young men."

I'm curious what you think America would/should do if it was in Ukraine's place and we were invaded by a neighbor with larger military?

What, exactly, would the U.S. president do differently so that he didn't "kill off his young men"? Would you be calling for our government to surrender?

I would hope we weren't stupid enough to be a pawn in the first place. What's the plan? To the Last Ukrainian? They don't need us for that.

You don't give one of the most corrupt countries on earth great weapons that will be used against you. lmao

The deal was not a security agreement, only repayment for outstanding money already sent.

There isn't anything for the U.S. to bail on. Trump is offering to facilitate an agreement, but the Ukraine said they will never sign an agreement with Russia.

That's up to the Ukraine and Russia to figure out, but the Ukraine said they will never agree. So. 🤷‍♂️
I didn’t say agreement, I said security. That’s what the US is trying to sale to Zelensky. That US citizens and companies working inside Ukraine would be enough to stop Putin from attacking again.

So what if he does attack again, what then? The US could pack up and just leave and leave Ukraine hanging again.

A valid question... but there are levels here.

If the situation was similar and we were faced with either continuing to feed our troops into a trench warfare meat grinder...

Or...

A "big brother" steps in to say "won't help you fight, but will help you stop fighting"

The choice is clear. Only a fool would choose to keep fighting when the chance for peace is in the table.

Nothing. Trump is offering to facilitate a peace agreement, but they can do it themselves.

The U.S. is not offering any security. If the U.S. has personnel there it would be just like anywhere else.

So what if he does attack again, what then?

The agreement can cover that, but its really up to them to figure out. This is not our concern really.

The US could pack up and just leave and leave Ukraine hanging again.

The U.S. probably will never be there in any real capacity, definitely if there is no peace deal. Its up to the parties to come to a peace agreement. The U.S. is not offering anything else.

The U.S. has never offered security to the Ukraine, nobody is leaving anyone hanging... although we are partially responsible for the situation i.e. neocons.

The resource agreement is just an agreement on past funds sent, its not a security agreement nor a peace agreement.

You can't really create a situation like that, because our histories, location, government, etc are much different.

However, if we were ever in the position that we were fighting a war that WE COULD NOT win, I would hope we could negotiate peace somehow before our entire country and population was destroyed.

I'm not sure what any of us would do if aliens invaded.

Also, watch Red Dawn. That is what would happen. We'd kick those illegal aliens back to whatever illegal place they came from.

Here is another opinion. I tend to agree.

"So here is the deal for anyone who hasn’t figured out what is going on yet. Russia has made it clear during negotiations that they want Zelenskyj gone. That way they can say “mission complete, nzis gone” to the Russian people and just defend the land they have already taken without looking ‘weak’.

Trump and Vance then did a publicity stunt to establish the ‘no peace with Zelenskyy’ narrative in order to force the hand of the Ukranian people. There was never a scenario where that meeting didn’t go south. It was as ‘bad faith’ a meeting as it could possibly have been.

And the whole “you are in no position to…” - “people are dying” thing is just disgusting. Imagine being such a terrible person that you would actually say stuff like that to victims of a brutal invasion…and then turn around and attempt to take half of their valuable resources as payment for a vague future ‘financial commitment’ with zero assurances. Wild."

Nope. See all the males die, and teach the impregnated females a new language.

That really is the noble option.

Over 100 million Americans own firearms, many of us have "several," and a lot of them are on par with those used by military forces. Sure, we are no defense against bombs and tanks, but a long as the military handles those, nobody would want to fight an infantry war on U.S. soil.

For comparison, there are more guns in the country than the next 24 countries combined.

They don't have a free press in Russia
from inside Russia itself

"... World Press Freedom Day is a particularly somber one in Russia, where freedom of the press is under constant assault. Authorities have shuttered dozens of outlets using fines and repressive legislation, censored thousands of websites, and persecuted journalists at a record pace since the start of Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine."

Don't bore yourself just listen to the 1st minute on what our .gov is saying about security with the US being involved economically. It's wishy washy just like when the US help take Ukraine's nukes away.

Its not wishy washy, see agreement. There are no security being provided to the Ukraine, that is what they want... the U.S. to get involved.

The mineral deal being the only security Trump was offering was not enough for Zelensky. He’s looking out for the Ukrainian people. Who’s to say the deal is signed and then a peace deal. What’s stopping the US from bailing on Ukraine again when Putin invades in a couple years?

I haven’t heard Trump one time say anything about the Ukrainian people being free to govern themselves as they want.
Trump is focusing on them living before they can govern themselves as they want. One step at a time.
