War in Ukraine

The mineral deal being the only security Trump was offering was not enough for Zelensky. He’s looking out for the Ukrainian people. Who’s to say the deal is signed and then a peace deal. What’s stopping the US from bailing on Ukraine again when Putin invades in a couple years?
Russia does seem to always invade when a Dem is in office.

Idk if it was staged or not but there definitely was a point where the tone dramatically changed. Didn’t seem prepped or scripted. That “you will feel it” definitely pissed off Trump and company
When you’re the one getting bullied and asking for help, you not in control. Trump quickly reminded him without the US they won’t survive.

You can't really create a situation like that, because our histories, location, government, etc are much different.

However, if we were ever in the position that we were fighting a war that WE COULD NOT win, I would hope we could negotiate peace somehow before our entire country and population was destroyed.
Sounds like the Confederacy in our Civil War. Yet the South fought on.

But, really, you would surrender if you were Ukrainian? You’d just quit and let Russia take over your country? What would become of your home? Your wife? Your kids?

I’ve yet to hear anything real from Pooty suggesting he’s willing to stop anytime soon.

The truth hurts. And of course Z is right. The two world wars started in Europe and the ocean didn’t protect us from entering both.

I don’t advocate us putting boots on the ground, but the right thing to do is to continue supporting Ukraine with arms sales.

What’s your opinion on what Ukraine needs to do to win?

So are there only two scenarios in this war from your viewpoint? Either Russia is pushed back to the original borders or Russia takes over all of Ukraine? No gray area is not even to be considered?

They need our arms, intelligence and military input. They’ve managed to counter the Russian glide bombs, which were devastating them for months and allowed Russia to take a substantial amount of land. The lines are virtually frozen with Russia losing huge amounts of troops and materiel for every meter they now take.

IMO the solution now entails Trump being tough, actually. The solution is to admit Ukraine to NATO on a date certain in the near future at which point the lines become permanent. Trump needs to forcefully tell Putin that at that point if they attempt to cross those lines, NATO article 5 is invoked in the United States and all the other NATO allies will enter the war. Putin could not win that war. You know it. He knows it. Everybody knows it. The only threat he has are nuclear warheads, which is a zero sum game.

Putin would be forced to quit.

So risk an actual nuclear war is your answer to Ukraine winning the war?

You’re absolutely correct in that Russia has no hope of winning a conventional war against NATO/US forces and Putin knows this. But are we sure Putin is stable enough to not go nuclear or he gives enough of a flock about the world not to?

I bolded the operative word there...

My charity has dried up. They can pay for it. Either now or later like a Lend Lease.

Go nuclear over the Ukraine? He gets removed by the Politburo/military before it gets close to that and I don’t think he anywhere close to being insane or suicidal.

I would listen to Vance, he's basically saying its gone. The things they want really don't exist in extra supply even if they have trained personnel. You can't printer meat, Vance said that as well.

They gonna pony up the money for that? Actual real money? Do they have it?

There will be no nuclear war, but we have a great opportunity here to snag a minerals deal from Ukraine, and an aluminum deal from Russia. Lets get it done, America first!

No on NATO. That's what Russia claims started this whole mess (and they do have a point).

I remember this meme a few years ago with something about "how dare Iran put their country in the middle of all our bases" with a map showing how all our bases in the Middle East and Central Asia surrounded Iran. While tongue in cheek, there is some truth when it comes to NATO continuing to move east to the Russian border (even before Finland joined).

Russians, by and large, are paranoid people. History shows they've been invaded and stabbed in the back for over a thousand years. They are distrustful of anyone that could be a threat on their border. Now we plop the same "enemy" they feared since pretty much WWII on almost their entire western border. How do you think they were going to react? Or will react if it happens?

Russia needs and wants a "buffer" on their western border that's not aligned with NATO. I think admitting Ukraine to NATO would be a huge mistake.

It would confirm that the need to take the whole country...although my guess has been they probably will have to.

Multiple nato countries are basically saying no to even support right now, the funny part is...the were never going to be in nato.

The neocons and Cia plus all the nato talk got Ukraine here. Russia is all in....the nato talk is the same people that said the Ukraine was winning.

I get that, but let's be real, we aren't selling them anything. They don't have the money or the economy to pay that kind of money back.

We can't keep funding that war, the dollar is weak due to inflation, people are suffering at home.

And even if we do fund this what happens when Russia is desperate? I don't like abandoning Ukraine either, but there isn't another way that doesn't run a high risk of direct conflict with Russia, I'm tired of war.......I actually think we need to prepare for the broader economic and possible military conflict in the future with China.

at that point NK fully gets involved along with China and Iran and all of their terrorist proxy's begin attacks all over the world.

I don't think they wanted to "take" the whole country, just get a government installed that would be either neutral at a minimum or their ally like in Belarus.

But they did and do not want Ukraine in NATO at all.
