War in Ukraine

No, that higher gas prices eventually will price in the economy of energy alternatives that are no economically viable. And I think over time what we see in such situations is that as producers prepare to fill that need, the costs come down. See e.g. battery technology for EVs.
Battery production is currently horrible for the environment and so far more damage than they save over gas/diesel.

Artificially inflation of traditional energy won’t suddenly make battery production good for the environment or stop the slave labor currently mining the lithium

But I digress

Ok I may have jumped the shark on this. In prior reporting they had already delayed certification my inference in the banner was it was outright cancelled.

Stories rarely live up to the headlines these days. Makes you wonder why you even bother with most articles.

Every single one of you treasonous, treacherous, authoritarian, Russian operatives will be dealt with. The hard way.

Similar to windmill blades. Non-recyclable. When decommissioned, they're stored off site until time to introduce into, of all places...a landfill.

meh, I wouldnt call him stupid by any means.

But it would appear as if he miscalculated the f*** out of this adventure.

He's admired by too many for his brawn and might makes right attitude. It's a myopic worldview.
years ago i told a russian kid that putin is losing major ground to china and putin is becoming their bitch. he got pretty mad. I was right, it seems but even then I didn't really believe he would spread his ****in legs wide open for china like this.

It's still a temporary solution to a permanent problem. Putin demands are no NATO, no military.

He believes he has that authority with Ukraine and will look to keep doing that with other Soviet Era countries.

He needs to pay for what he's done - people made fun of the sanctions, the pain doesn't happen overnight. It takes a little time, he needs to feel it. His people need to feel it. Perhaps regime change could come from within.
Maybe, but I also fear sanctions could galvanize the population. We would only be confirming the Boogeyman Putin claims we are.

I also think we need to stand up to him but I worry a long suffering people would rise again similar to Germany after WW1

Heartbreaking Photos Show Ukrainian Kids Killed in Russian Attacks

rusia-ukraine-children-048.jpg

Heartbreaking images emerged Sunday of some of the youngest victims killed in Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Among the gut-wrenching photos from the Ukrainian city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region was a shot of paramedic Oleksandr Konovalov performing CPR in vain on a small girl brought to a city hospital after she was injured during a Russian attack on civilians. Next to her, an adult covered in blood crouches down in agony.

More photos show the girl inside a Mariupol hospital, where she is surrounded by a team of adults desperately trying to save her young life.

Speaking of landfill…..landfills produce methane gas. It can’t be stopped. So what do we do to prevent it harming the environment? We burn it. Right there at the landfill. 24/7/365 we’re burning a natural gas without getting the benefit of burning a natural gas.

You can’t make this kind of stupidity up.

In my children's lifetime, metal and methane reclamation in landfills are going to become major industries. I wish it would hurry up and get here. So much wasted material and fuel just sitting there.

Here’s where Russian oligarchs and their families own property in NYC

American policy makers, including some senators — like Republican Roger Wicker of Mississippi — are calling for the full “Navalny 35” list of Vladimir Putin cronies to be officially sanctioned by the US.

That’s a list of the top individual alleged “key enablers” of Putin’s kleptocracy, compiled by Russian opposition leader Alexi Navalny, who survived a near-fatal nerve agent poisoning by Putin thugs after he exposed the extent of the dictator’s corruption and money laundering — including the construction of a billion dollar presidential palace — and who is still speaking out even from prison during a kangaroo court hearing.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the US has now sanctioned Putin and some of his cronies — but not all. And the UK, Canada and more than 15 other countries have already agreed to ban Russian private planes from flying over “democratic skies.” Still, many prominent oligarchs have not been touched and are still enjoying their private planes and megayachts — although that could change.
