War in Ukraine

He needs to pay for what he's done - people made fun of the sanctions, the pain doesn't happen overnight. It takes a little time, he needs to feel it. His people need to feel it. Perhaps regime change could come from within.

Do we have any examples of sanctions achieving such an outcome? My understanding is that they generally result in uniting the opposition with the sanctioned regime against the external forces imposing the sanctions.

Speaking of landfill…..landfills produce methane gas. It can’t be stopped. So what do we do to prevent it harming the environment? We burn it. Right there at the landfill. 24/7/365 we’re burning a natural gas without getting the benefit of burning a natural gas.

You can’t make this kind of stupidity up.
Hey, in my county landfill they have a 5000 watt Kohler generator running off of the emissions 24/7. I think it supplies their beer cooler and break room.

More and more the gas coming from landfills is either being converted to power on site using big internal combustion engines coupled to a generator, so-called gensets, or upgraded to meet pipeline specs for selling into the natural gas distribution. The latter type process is where my business gets involved. And it is literally exploding, in a good way.

It will weaken his military but the issue is Russia's Nuclear Arsenal. They are starting to look more and more like North Korea, using Nukes to threaten to get what they want.

This was his plan all along. He armed N.K., who has shot off 8 ballistic missiles in tests since this began.

I'm unaware of any country in the course of human history being sanctioned like the EU and NATO are giving Russia right now. It's unprecedented and despite what Comrade Carlson is saying on Fox, these sanctions will cripple Russia. Not just financially, but these people won't be able to fly through EU airspace. Hope they like vacationing in Siberia and China.

Now does that mean that it will suddenly make Putin change his mind? maybe - maybe not. Probably not. He may not care that the plebes suffer the brunt, but it isn't nothing. Guarantee Xi is paying attention to the sanctions.

Sounds like Belarus was told by Daddy Putin to start stocking the fallout shelters.

Nah, dont be silly - Belarus is borrowing some Russian nukes to make sure that Lukashenko cannot be "special opped" by someone else. This gives them a shield from the EU countries or US declaring war on them or sending in troops after they declare war on Ukraine. Nukes are good as a shield, not so much as an offensive wep. Ask lil rocket man.

when I first started perusing this thread, I was just scanning it for the info primarily from Twitter. But turns out there were a lot of emerging storylines here.

I don’t know which one is my favorite:

1 - BowlBrother working overtime trying to ensure any negative domestic political fallout was not directed at Diaper Joe

2 - Ras being isolated as a Russian traitor

3 - Deep thoughts from Double Deez

I'm just saying that if Belarus wasn't in the crosshairs before (if nukes start flying) they've just been invited to the party.

This was my thought as well -- that they are meant to be a deterrent to Lukashenko becoming the next Saddam or Gaddafi.

Not sure I like this.

Playing catch up, so it may be covered, but there are virtually no military aircraft showing up anywhere near Ukraine - not even the tankers that have been constantly orbiting over Poland and Romania. Either things are quiet in the air or suddenly no trackers are on. The other thing is that according to ZoomEarth huge parts of the area are covered in fog and low clouds.
